Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) were defiant in their decisions during tonight’s episode of Emmerdale.
Sarah was dumped by Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) shortly after the death of his mum Leyla.
Consumed with grief, Jacob was utterly terrified about losing someone close to him again and believed dumping Sarah – who lives with Fanconi Anemia – would prevent him from anymore hurt.
The end of their relationship happened around the same time Sarah was told by Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) that she was never pregnant. Spiralling and searching for a distraction, Sarah was intrigued when she spotted thief Kammy (Shebz Miah) by the side of the road.
Since then, Sarah and Kammy have spent a lot of time together, but it’s all been quite fun without any labels. This, according to Sarah, has made her feel like she’s finally living.
Her feelings were challenged in tonight’s episode when Jacob approached her and admitted dumping her was a mistake. He was jealous after seeing her with Kammy, and tried to say they should give things another go.
Sarah, however, put her foot down and told Jacob they wouldn’t be getting back together.
That afternoon, Cain (Jeff Hordley) attempted to tell Sarah that Kammy is a bad influence, and she needs someone who looks after and gives her stability.
Sarah told her granddad that Kammy doesn’t know about her FA – which will shorten her life – and she wants to keep it that way.
She wants to enjoy herself and embrace the excitement that comes with spending time with Kammy because time, compared to most people, isn’t something she has a great deal of.
Elsewhere in the village, Brenda was preparing to leave the village for her three month cruise. She had debated not going, but ultimately decided to go on the trip of a lifetime with Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) alongside her.
A comment from Jimmy (Nick Miles) had got Eric’s (Chris Chittell) hopes up about possibly reuniting with Brenda before the holiday, but that was far from the case.

During an emotional chat, Brenda sat Eric down and said they’re not getting back together.
She did, however, tell Eric that she really cares about him and if anything was to happen with his Parksinson’s while she’s away, she wants to know about it.
So it’s not partners, it’s just close friends.
Which might just be enough for Eric.
