Benni McCarthy: How much is the new Kenya coach earning?

Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy recently moved to Kenya to take over as the Harambee Stars new head coach.

This McCarthy’s first coaching gig as a national team mentor, and it came as a major surprise to many.

The 47-year-old had been without a coaching job since his departure from Manchester United in the off-season.

And while there were rumours of him possibly returning to South Africa to coach Mamelodi Sundowns, he remained jobless.

However, McCarthy also remained patient and waited for the right project, and he didn’t hesitate when Kenya approached him.

McCarthy took with him assistant coach Vasili Manousakis, goalkeeper coach Moeneeb Josephs and performance analyst Pilela Maposa.

This new project for McCarthy comes just two years before the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament.

Kenya will be the 2027 Afcon co-hosts alongside Tanzania and Uganda as CAF decided to take the tournament to East Africa.

Now, with McCarthy at the helm, the mandate from the Football Kenyan Federation (FKF) is straightforward.

And that is for McCarthy to make sure that the Harambee Stars are ready and competitive in the next two years.

But the question remains, how much is McCarthy earning as Kenyan national team coach?
