B&M shoppers stunned to see Cadbury chocolate bar back in UK for 49p – almost two decades after it was discontinued

B&M shoppers were stunned to see a Cadbury chocolate bar back in the UK almost two decades after it was discontinued.

The rare Cadbury chocolate bar which was launched in 2012 and “aimed at women” was found back on their shelves for only 49p.

Crispello, a mix of wafer and chocolate, has only been available abroad until recently but shoppers were quick to spot it back in the UK.

The bars are being sold in individual packs, each containing four separate chocolate-covered crispy wafer shells with a creamy chocolate filling.

Snack lovers on Facebook say they have not been able to source them in this country for many, many years.

But since they were spotted in the snack aisle at B&M, it’s brought back a sense of nostalgia for those who’d forgotten all about them.

On Facebook, one user said: “Saw these in B&M and immediately thought of years ago when they were out.”

While another added: “Need these! I remember back in the day when they came out and they were yum.”

Another posted “Addictive”

While one said it reminded them of the Bueno range.

The B&M website describes Crispello as: “Delicious Dairy Milk chocolate with a crispy centre.

“Four fingers of light crispies coated in milk chocolate. Perfect for sharing or scoffing by yourself!”

When Cadbury first launched Crispello back in 2012, the brand explained that they were firmly aimed at women.

In a Guardian article from the time, it described Crispello’s name as having a “purry appeal” and “aimed squarely at a female demographic” reports Somerset County Gazette.

Despite this, its future in the UK was short-lived, disappearing off the shelves within a couple of years.

Meanwhile, Dubai chocolate has been labelled as ‘Prime hysteria’ all over again after it was being sold in Sainsbury’s for £10 a bar,

But now, those with a sweet tooth can get their hands on Iceland’s brand new Bergen Dubai Cookies – and fear not, they won’t burn a hole in your wallet

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

The tasty cookies are covered in milk chocolate and stuffed full with pistachio creme.

And don’t worry, if you’re on a budget and can’t afford to break the bank on Dubai chocolate – as these new cookies are super purse-friendly at just £2 a pack.

But it’s not just Iceland jumping on the Dubai chocolate trend.

Morrisons are selling an Easter egg that’s Dubai-inspired, but they’ve also got pistachio creme cheesecakes too.

The decadent treat, which can be found in the Morrison’s Bakery section, has a soft chocolate cheesecake top, pistachio flavoured soft cheese and a pure Kunafa base.

However, please note that some posters on Instagram described the £5 price tag as “daylight robbery”.
