Can England still win the Six Nations 2025?

THE Six Nations 2025 is approaching the final week of action – with England set to travel to Cardiff in the final fixture.

Steve Borthwick’s side will take on Wales at the Principality, who are winless in over 500 days in test rugby.

England have picked up three wins in the Six Nations so far against France, Scotland and Italy.

However, Steve Borthwick’s side were beaten in Ireland in the only away fixture they have played during this tournament.

They currently sit second in the Six Nations table, behind France, and just ahead of Ireland in third.

France, like England, have won three times, and lost once, but crucially picked up an extra bonus point in their loss to England at Twickenham.

Ireland have only picked up two bonus points, and it looks as though that will be the difference between them and a third Six Nations title, due to how the Super Saturday fixtures worked out.

Can England still win the Six Nations?

The short answer is yes, England can still win the Six Nations this year.

France’s demolition of Ireland in Dublin has blown the competition wide open heading into Super Saturday.

The French now lead the competition with 16 points, with England second on 15 points and Ireland on 14 points in third.

To make it even more exciting – France, Ireland and England are all playing separate fixtures on Super Saturday.

Ireland open the day in Rome as they take on Italy at 2:15pm GMT, England then take on Wales at 4:45pm GMT, and France host Scotland to round off the day at 8pm GMT.

Ireland can get a maximum of 19 points, England 20 and France 21.

England will only win the Six Nations if they beat Wales and France lose to Scotland, as their points difference is far superior to England, should both sides end the tournament on 19 points.

Ireland need both sides to lose to win a historic third Six Nations title in a row.

In rugby union sides are awarded four points for a win, and five points for a game they win by more than four tries.

Crucially, sides also win a losing bonus point if they lose by seven points or less; France picked up one of these in their defeat at Twickenham, and it looks like it has made all the difference now.
