In news that will delight millions of fans of the much-loved cartoon sensation, the big reveal came on ITV‘s Good Morning Britain.

Showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold cut live to Mummy Pig on today’s morning’s show, revealing that Mummy Pig, whose job involves doing ‘very important work’ on her computer, and her husband Daddy Pig, who ‘takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents’, are expecting another baby this summer

Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig are already parents to Peppa, four, and George, two, but will be adding to their brood very soon.

Speaking live from Peppatown, Mummy Pig exclusively revealed: “Well, I’m excited to share that our family is getting even bigger because… We’re having another baby!” as she held up a scan picture to camera for viewers to see.

Showing off her baby bump, she continued: “I’m due in the summer and we’re all so excited…”

Despite this, she added: “A little overwhelmed at the thought of having three children under five running around, but mostly just completely delighted.”

Asked if she had already shared the news with Peppa and George, Mummy Pig replied: “Oh yes, we weren’t able to keep it a secret for long.

“Peppa knew something was going on, and she’s such a curious thing – we had to tell her before she popped!

“They’ve had the occasional wobble and worry, but they’re mostly so excited!

“Every day they ask me how big the baby is, when is it coming, does it like Muddy Puddles and dinosaurs… It never stops!”

Mummy Pig then went on to tell Richard how they have not yet thought of a name for the baby but she thinks they’ll “find the right name once the baby is here” with Richard suggesting either Richard or Kate, after Kate Garraway, 57.

Sneaking into shot, Peppa Pig eagerly joined Mummy Pig to say goodbye to the camera as Mummy Pig beamed: “Bye for now!”.

Mummy Pig

Viewers will watch Mummy Pig announce that she is pregnant during the final episode of the current series of Peppa Pig, which will air on the 30th March (Mother’s Day).

Viewers can then expect to see the new baby on screen in the Autumn.

History of the show

Peppa Pig first aired in 2004 and has since been broadcast in 180 territories and translated into 40 languages.

Now it’s spawned books, toys and even two theme parks, with the global Peppa empire now worth over £1billion.

Peppa Pig theme park locations around the world

  • Günzburg, Germany: Europe’s first single Peppa Pig theme park, next to LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort
  • Florida: The Peppa Pig Theme Park at LEGOLAND Florida
  • Dallas, Texas: The Peppa Pig World of Play at Grapevine Mills
  • Heide Park, Germany: Features Peppa Pig Land
  • Gardaland, Italy: Offers Peppa Pig Land
  • Paultons Park, UK: Features Peppa Pig World

Creators Neville Astley and Mark Baker admitted they were initially worried the idea would never get off the ground, and that people at first, were bored of the idea.

People in the pub would ask us, “What are you drawing?” We’d say, “A pig, called Peppa, it’s going to be big.

“They’d lose interest and wander off”, explained Astley.

The pair created Peppa and her family working in each other’s houses or at the local pub.

We put a lot of work into making everything look as effortless as possible

Mark Baker

They told the Radio Times they were inspired by 1970s cartoon classics including Roobarb and Pingu, after realising that children ‘like stories about animals’.

The creators claimed that the secret to Peppa’s long-lasting appeal is the show’s simplicity, as well as ensuring the piglet is never the butt of the jokes.

Baker shared: “We put a lot of work into making everything look as effortless as possible.

“We can laugh at the adults, but children don’t like it if we laugh at the children in the show.”

Hackman was spotted holding onto Betsy’s arm while he used a cane on March 28, 2024, during a rare public appearance.

The couple were on a dinner date in Santa Fe, New Mexico, heading into Pappadeaux’s restaurant.

The Hollywood legend had celebrated his 94th birthday just weeks before these pictures were taken.

Earlier in the day, the couple were also seen visiting a local Speedway store, where Gene bought a cup of coffee and an apple pie.

The reclusive pair were rarely spotted and pictured out, despite their fame.

Gene was also pictured in 2023, pumping gas into his car and getting a coffee from a gas station.

The then 93-year-old looked frail while he was out in his beloved Santa Fe area.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the couple’s shocking death.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff added that there is an “active investigation” into their tragic death.

“We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail,” cops said in a statement.

“This is an active investigation – however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor.”

Cops in Santa Fe have not released the couple’s cause of death.

Hackman was famous for playing Buck Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde.

Full list of celebrity chef restaurants that have closed for good this year

Collage of celebrity chefs.

IT’S been a tough year for hospitality and celebrity chefs have not been immune to the industry’s troubles.

From TV stars to Michelin-star holders, a number have closed their restaurants as cost pressures and declining consumer confidence hit trading.

Those to have closed sites include the ultimate celebrity cook, Gordon Ramsay, and renowned French chef Anne-Sophie Pic.

Many of those shutting their doors have highlighted economic circumstances, which have made it increasingly difficult to make a profit.

And, these are unlikely to be last closures of 2025 with accountancy firm Price Bailey having predicted 6,000 restaurants could shut their doors this year.

But, it’s not all bad news as some of those who have announced closures plan to reopen in a different locations or with an adjusted offer.

Here are all the restaurants run by celebrity chefs that have closed this year:

La Dame de Pic

Anne-Sophie Pic closed her two-Michelin-star restaurant La Dame de Pic earlier this month.

The restaurant had sat within the Four Seasons’ Hotel in London’s Park Lane.

Announcing the closure the two parties said they had agreed to “conclude their partnership”.

In a statement they added: “We are incredibly proud of the two-Michelin-star dining experience we created at La Dame de Pic, delivering exceptional dining and unforgettable moments to all.”

La Dame de Pic received its first Michelin star in 2018 and its second two years later.

The authors of the red book praised the chef’s “delicate [flavour] combinations”, while the AA Guide, which had awarded it four rosettes described “stunning classic dishes” and “superb technical execution”.

Café Lapérouse

Café Lapérouse at the OWO in London‘s Whitehall shut its doors in February after serving guests for less than two years.

The restaurant was sister to the inaugural Café Lapérouse in the Hotel de la Marine in Paris, which has been described as a “quintessential part of the Parisian dining scene”, and is a favourite amongst the city’s elite.

When the London restaurant opened Benjamin Patou, Moma group founder and chief executive, said: “Café Lapérouse will bring its own sophisticated French presence to a London audience, which will excite, amaze and thrill diners.”

No statement was made explaining the closure, but the OWO website was updated to tease a new concept due to take over the space.

The OWO, otherwise known as the historic Old War Office, is home to Raffles Hotel and a number of high-end restaurants including Kioku by Endo by Endo Kazutoshi, the chef behind Michelin-starred Endo at the Rotunda.

Kora by Tom Kitchen

Scottish celebrity chef Tom Kitchin closed his Edinburgh restaurant Kora in January.

He had opened the restaurant in Bruntsfield with his wife Michaela in 2022.

Kitchin said the restaurant had struggled in the face of a challenging “economic climate”, leading him to make the “difficult decision.”

Kora had received rave reviews with the Good Food Guide stating that it had “answered the prayers” of diners both from the city and further afield.

Kitchin remains Scotland‘s youngest winner of a Michelin star, which he received at age 29.

He had trained under culinary legends including Pierre Koffmann and Alain Ducasse.

The star was awarded for his restaurant the Kitchin, also in Edinburgh, which continues to hold the accolade.

Roger Hickman’s Restaurant

Chef Roger Hickman has announced that his Norwich restaurant will hold its final service at the end of March.

The restaurant has been serving diners since 2010 and holds three AA rosettes and a recommendation in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland.

The chef said: “It’s been an extraordinary journey, but after 15 years, I’ve decided it’s time to put the restaurant on the market for sale.

“The industry has changed dramatically, and so have the ways in which people dine. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, I feel it’s the right moment to move on.”

Explaining the impact of rising costs on his decision he added: “The cost of living crisis, skyrocketing utility bills, and rising costs of produce and materials have made it increasingly difficult to operate.

“These pressures have forced menu prices to rise, but at the same time, customers simply don’t have the resources to dine out as often as they’d like. With fewer bums on seats and ever-increasing expenses, it’s become almost impossible for small businesses to survive.”

While the restaurants last service will be held on Mother’s Day, Roger said he has a couple of “projects and investments” in the works, including private dining services and special hire events.

Jackson’s

The owner of Jackson’s in Cardiff’s Duke Street Arcade revealed he had closed his restaurant earlier this month after the site was burgled multiple times

Chef Lee Skeet, said the physical and emotional strain of the job had become “more than it was worth”, and explained how thieves had stolen iPads, money, and alcohol from the premises.

Lee, who trained under Gordon Ramsey, added that health issues had also contributed to his decision.

It not all bad news though as Lee said he hoped to relocate to the restaurant to another area of Cardiff “where hopefully there will be less crime”.

It will be music to the ears of fans who had awarded the oyster and seafood bar an average of 4.6/5 stars on Google.

Caldesi

Chef Giancarlo Caldesi, an Italian restaurateur famed for his appearance on the BBC documentary series Return To Tuscany, announced the closure of Caldesi at the beginning of February.

He had opened the restaurant in Belsize, north London in April 2024, serving upmarket Italian food.

A message announcing the closure read: “We have officially closed our doors at Caldesi in Belsize and are deeply grateful for the support and cherished moments shared with our guests.”

Caldesi has two sister restaurants in Marlyebone and Campagna, which remain open – and Giancarlo advised any disappointed customers to visit those instead.

 Street Burger

The ultimate celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay, closed a branch of his Street Burger chain earlier this month.

The windows of the restaurant in Kensington High Street, London, were boarded up and the eatery is expected to be replaced by rival restaurant, Burger & Lobster.

The London branch of Street Burger was one of the chain’s nine locations across the UK.

Online, the chain had promised the “perfect burger from Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay”, but reviews on Tripadvisor suggested otherwise.

Giving it one star, one person wrote: “Bad taste, bad service, bad size, bad price, bad everything. If this is something to do with Gordon Ramsey’s recipies – Wake up. GR!”

However, there were also plenty of happy customers. “Great food and good service, enjoyable atmosphere inside. Food came very quickly and the staff were friendly and helpful,” one wrote.

 The Restaurant MS

Gordon Ramsay protegee Mark Sargeant closed down The Restaurant MS in Folkestone, Kent, after a string of setbacks.

Despite glowing reviews the business sent an email to customers to say goodbye.

The message, seen by Kent Online, read: “It is with deep regret that we announce the closure of The Restaurant MS.

“This decision, made after careful consideration, has not been easy.

“However, the challenging market conditions and an unpredictable future have compelled us to take this step.”

Sargeant had opened Restaurant MS in 2023, after closing a previous concept he had run in the same site.

The restaurant had received great reviews but had also seen a number of setbacks including a leak that flooded the site less than a month after opening.

Carmel

Yotam Ottolenghi protegee Josh Katz announced the closure of Carmel restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia in January.

The restaurant had been a sister to Carmel Queeen’s Park, which remains open.

Katz is also behind London restaurants Berber & Q and Shawarma Bar.

The now closed Fitzrovia restaurant had been open for less than a year.

Katz told The Caterer: “I cannot see a viable way forward in Fitzrovia and have taken the very difficult decision to close Carmel Fitzrovia with immediate effect.”

Osma

Masterchef: The Professionals 2024 star Danielle Heron closed her Manchester restaurant Osma earlier this year.

The restaurant, which the chef opened with Sofie Stoermann-Naess, had traded in the city for almost five years.

But, it’s not all bad news as the pair have said they plan to relocate the restaurant.

Announcing the closure on Instagram they said: “It’s with a heavy heart, but excitement for the future, that we have decided to close our Prestwich restaurant ahead of a move to the city centre.

“Being fully transparent – we’ve struggled to find experienced staff, leaving us with little to no personal life. We have made the decision to move on to what we hope will be a more sustainable business that can grow, and allow us more time to follow our dreams.”

Osma had been listed in the Michelin Guide with inspectors praising its “mightily appealing seasonal menu”.

Studio Frantzén

The chef behind three-Michelin-star Swedish eatery Restaurant Frantzén ended his London residency at Harrods department store in January.

Björn Frantzén had launched Studio Frantzén in 2022 as his first outpost in London.

A message posted to the restaurant’s Instagram post stated: “We are in the process of closing our Harrods location and relocating to a new venue, with the grand opening scheduled for the summer of 2025.”

Burnt Truffle

Chef Gary Usher, who has starred in a Channel 4 show and won multiple awards, announced the closure of his popular Merseyside restaurant Burnt Truffle in January.

Usher had opened Burnt Truffle in 2015, when it was the second outlet in the portfolio of his company, Elite Bistros.

The chef said the business had decided not to renew the lease of the restaurant as the “honest truth” was he had “never been able to make it work” at the site.

The chef owns five other restaurants, as well as a pub, and a bakery

What is happening to the hospitality industry?

By Laura McGuire, consumer reporter

MANY Food and drink chains have been struggling in recently as the cost of living has led to fewer people spending on eating out.

Businesses had been struggling to bounce back after the pandemic, only to be hit with soaring energy bills and inflation.

Multiple chains have been affected, resulting in big-name brands like Wetherspoons and Frankie & Benny’s closing branches.

Some chains have not survived, Byron Burger fell into administration last year, with owners saying it would result in the loss of over 200 jobs.

Pizza giant, Papa Johns is shutting down 43 of its stores soon.

Tasty, the owner of Wildwood, said it will shut sites as part of major restructuring plans.

The £22 DIY buy at The Range that can help avoid a mould outbreak and it’s an easy job anyone can do

A DIY expert has recommended a £22 DIY buy that could help avoid a mould outbreak.

A mould outbreak is caused when there is a high level of moisture in the air. Infestations can often begin with condensation.

Mould can be dangerous to your health as well as unsightly[/caption]
Ronseal 6-year Anti-Mould Paint can (white, matt).
The Range
A 750ml tub of Ronseal anti-mould matt paint costs £22 at The Range[/caption]

Matters can be made worse at this time of year by a lack of sufficient ventilation, as people are less likely to open their windows when it’s chilly outside.

Not only is this toxic fungus unsightly and notoriously hard to get rid of, it is also harmful to your health.

It can potentially cause skin conditions and respiratory complications.

“One simple hack involves you purchasing some ‘mould-resistant paint’,” said Thomas Goodman from trades matching site, MyJobQuote.co.uk.. “It can be a great way to help prevent mould growth on areas such as windowsills.”

At The Range, you can pick up a 750ml tub of Ronseal anti-mould matt paint for just under £22.

At Wickes, a 2.5l tub of ‘mould protect’ emulsion paint costs £25.

Thomas said: “Anti-mould paint contains fungicides that can effectively create a barrier to stop the fungus from growing.”

It can be especially effective in high-moisture places such as bathrooms and kitchens.

“A layer of black mould around windows and on windowsills can become a serious problem if left untreated,” said Thomas. “Not only does it look unpleasant, it can damage windows, surrounding areas and most importantly, your physical health.”

Before cracking into your tin of paint, it’s important to prepare the surface properly, according to the property whizz.

“First off, you need to thoroughly clean the windowsill with a solution of warm water and detergent,” said Thomas. “Take care to remove any dirt, grime – or existing mould – with a suitable product.”

At Sainsbury’s, you can buy Cillit Bang power cleaner mould remover spray (750ml) for £4, while at Poundland, you can purchase Dettol antibacterial mould and mildew remover (500ml) for £2.50.

At Wilko, you can get Astonish mould and mildew blaster (750ml) for £1.49.

We previously reported how you can use vinegar as a more natural – and cheaper – way to dispense with the black fuzz.

On Amazon, you can find a five-litre tub of white spirit vinegar for just under £6.

Always remember to wear protective gear such as a face mask and gloves.

Thomas added: “Before you start applying the anti-mould paint, make sure the window is completely dry. Lightly sand the windowsill as this will create a much better surface for the paint to adhere to.”

Thomas also recommends sticking masking tape to the edges of the windowsill to protect the surrounding areas.

“Apply the anti-mould paint in thin, even coats,” he said. “Allow each one to dry completely before applying the next one. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions printed on the can for application techniques and drying times.”

Don’t make the mistake of using anti-mould paint and then going over it with an ordinary paint. If you do this, you won’t get the benefit of the protective barrier. To work effectively, anti-mould paint needs to be your top coat.

Ensure the room is well-ventilated while you are working to avoid inhaling fumes.

“To maintain the freshly painted windowsill, you need to regularly clean it with a damp cloth,” said the property aficionado. “This will help prevent the build-up of dirt and moisture. Periodically inspect the paint for any signs of damage or peeling – and touch up as needed.”

Note that while you can tackle small areas of mould yourself, for larger outbreaks, you may need to call in the professionals. The experts will know how to eliminate the problem safely and efficiently.

According to MyJobQuote.co.uk, the average cost of dealing with mould is around £440, but if you need to get it removed from an entire property, this could set you back as much as £1,100.

Other possible causes of black mould

While black mould typically forms when there are unusually high levels of moisture in the air, there are other potential causes you need to be on the lookout for, according to Thomas.

These include:

  • condensation
  • leaking pipes
  • rainwater leaking in through window frames
  • rising damp
  • inadequate heating causing the air in a property to become too cold

How to reduce the risk of a mould problem

The key thing you need to do is keep your home as moisture-free as possible, according to Thomas.

  • Insulation – ensuring your property is well-insulated will help to maintain a consistent temperature. This, in turn, will reduce the risk of condensation forming.
  • A dehumidifier – one of these units will remove moisture from the air. While this won’t get rid of any existing mould, it will help to discourage the growth of spores and dampness.
  • Ventilation – extractor fans in bathrooms and kitchens can be used to remove excess moisture after activities such as showering or cooking. For a more natural approach, try opening your windows for at least 30 minutes a day (if outside temperatures allow for this). At the very minimum, do this for at least 15 minutes daily.
  • Address leaks quickly – any leak within the home, be it from pipes, taps or outside rainwater seeping in, will significantly increase moisture levels. You need to get any such issues fixed promptly.
  • Keep windows and surfaces clean – use a clean cloth to wipe away condensation as soon as it appears. Also wipe away any dirt and dust which has built up. These steps will go a good way towards preventing mould.

What is mould and how to get rid of it?

Mould is more likely to grow during the winter months.

Olivia Young, Product Development Scientist at Astonish revealed exactly why this is.

“Unfortunately, mould is a common problem many people face during winter. It thrives in conditions that are warm and damp, so your bathrooms are likely to be the most affected place.

“That said, during the colder months most rooms in your home could be vulnerable to mould growing.

“This occurs primarily from condensation that builds up on your windows when you’ve got your radiators on.

“If you think about it, when windows and doors are closed, there’s not much chance for the air to circulate and the moisture to make a swift exit.

“This build up is what can cause dreaded mould to make an appearance, especially in bathrooms, as it creates that warm and wet environment that is a breeding ground for mould.

“If left untreated, not only is it unsightly but it can also pose a serious risk to your health, so it’s really important you treat it.

“The key to tackle mould is to act fast.

“Try to come into as little contact with it as you can. So, grab your gloves, tie up your hair and get to work to remove any signs of mould as soon as you notice them.

“To keep mould at bay, there are some simple solutions you can introduce throughout home.

“The first is keep it ventilated. Yes, even in the cold winter months try to leave your bathroom window open for at least 10/15 minutes post shower or bath. This will get rid of any excess moisture quickly preventing mould gathering.

“If you’re having a repeat problem with mould in one particular area, it might be because the humidity levels are too high. You can get a dehumidifier that will help keep the levels low and reduce the risk of mould returning.

“The golden rule to remember when dealing with mould is the quicker you can treat it, the better. If you leave it, it will only get worse so never ignore it!

“To successfully get rid of mould every time, I recommend opting for the UK’s No 1 Mould & Mildew Remover, that effectively removes mould and mildew stains almost instantly, with no scrubbing necessary.”

Father Ted’s Ardal O’Hanlon slams trigger warning on old episodes as ‘truly ridiculous’ – as Richard Madeley agrees

FATHER Ted favourite Ardal O’Hanlon has slammed the “truly ridiculous” trigger warning slapped on old episodes of the much-loved comedy.

The 59-year-old actor, who played loveable Father Dougal McGuire in the long-running series, agreed with Good Morning Britain anchor Richard Madeley, 68, on the “preposterous” nature of the changes.

The Sun exclusively told how Channel 4 had slapped a warning on an ‘offensive’ episode[/caption]

Earlier this month, The Sun was first to report how Channel 4 had issued the alert on an “offensive” episode.

Telly bosses feared 1998 episode Are You Right There, Father Ted could upset today’s viewers because of its language and scenes of racial impersonation.

During Thursday’s episode of the ITV daytime show, Richard brought up the issue of debate, blasting the warning as “preposterous.”

The former This Morning anchor, who was fronting GMB with Kate Garraway, 57, then added: “What could be more gentle than Father Ted?”

Irish comedian Ardal then replied: “I am with you on that, I don’t get it.

“You should have a trigger warning in a supermarket.

“Where do we start, and where do we end?

“It’s truly ridiculous.”

EPISODE FLAGGED

The Father Ted episode in question includes a sequence where Ted, played by Dermot Morgan, appears to mock the Chinese wearing a lampshade on his head and later looks like Hitler thanks to some furious arm gestures and a well-placed mark on the window.

The misunderstanding sees the priest spend the rest of the episode trying to convince the island he was not “a bit of a racist”.

The plot point was deemed triggering by Channel 4’s streaming service, with a warning reading: “This episode was made in 1998 and contains language and racial impersonation which some viewers may find offensive.”

Free Speech Union leader Toby Young said: “The language and behaviour was ‘offensive’ in 1998 — that was the point.

“This episode was mocking the hyper-sensitivity of our age, something that was already apparent 27 years ago.

“For Channel 4 to attach a trigger warning shows that nothing has changed.

5ive set for huge comeback tour – as boyband reunite with full line up 25 years after bitter split

FIVE will embark on a huge comeback tour after 25 years apart, The Sun can reveal.

All five members of the British boyband, made up of Abz Love, J Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon are on board for the reunion after they split back in September 2001.

FIVE will embark on a huge comeback tour after 25 years apart, The Sun can reveal[/caption]

They will hit the road for 12 huge arena dates on the Keep On Movin’ 2025 Tour – starting in Brighton on 31 October.

Five will then perform around the country with shows in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, Aberdeen and Glasgow, as well as London’s O2 Arena.

Insiders told The Sun the tour would see the group performing their biggest hits including If Ya Getting’ Down, Everybody Get Up, Let’s Dance and When The Lights Go Out.

Singer Naughty Boy is booked as the warm-up act for all 12 shows.
A source told The Sun: “No one thought they’d see the day that Abz, J, Ritchie, Scott and Sean would reunite.

“But after 25 years the time felt right and they couldn’t be more excited to be back together.”

Confirming the news, Scott said: “This has been a long time coming and it really does feel right for all of us now – 25 years on and we’re so ready for it.

“Reconnecting as a five over the last year has been special and I know I speak for all the boys when I say we can’t wait to do this all over again.”

Abz added: “We really can’t wait to get back on stage together and see the fans, it’s going to go off.”

Speculation about all five of the group coming back together went into overdrive earlier this week when Abz confirmed he had rejoined the group.

He shared the tweet he used to announce his exit from Five back in 2014 and wrote above it: “As of today I am once again a member of Five.

“Thank you to all the fans who support us, I love you all.”
The group also used their social media accounts to tease the announcement.

Five split on 27 September 2001 but have reunited several times over the years.

In 2006 they performed without Sean briefly, and then in 2012 tried again – this time with Sean but without J.

Most recently Sean, Ritchie and Scott, performed together as a trio.
During their career they sold over 20 million records, landing 11 Top Ten 10 hits, including three No1s, and four Top Ten albums including their debut self-titled record which went straight to the top of the UK charts.

Their debut single, Slam Dunk Da Funk, peaked at No10 in the charts but the follow up, When The Lights Go Out, propelled them to stardom in the UK and US.

Tickets to Five’s Keep On Movin’ 2025 Tour go on general sale on Friday, 7 March at 10am via www.itsfiveoffical.com.
