LERWICK (6.00 Kempton, nap)

Enjoyed dropping back to this 7f trip when just denied at Newcastle 12 days ago. He hit the front and looked like the winner only to be chinned in the final few yards. He should be suited by the shorter straight here and stays in the same grade. A repeat of that last run should be good enough for Ed Bethell’s five-year old to land another success.

ART OF DIPLOMACY (2.45 Wetherby, nb)

Has shown lots of promise on three starts since going chasing. He was asked to make up far too much ground when third at Wetherby last time and it’s a wise move to step up in distance here. His handicap mark is coming down and this looks a good chance to strike.

JACKPOT CASH (2.25 Bangor, treble)

He got his act together when winning a Southwell hurdle last week on debut for excellent trainer James Owen. His jumping has been the issue over these bigger obstacles but his top-class new handler is likely to have sorted that before this return.

LADRONNE (4.28 Wetherby, Lucky 15)

He was fourth in a much stronger contest over 2m4f here last time and this longer trip could well help. Dropping in grade from a plunging handicap mark mean this is an excellent winning chance.

Marnie Simpson reveals how she’ll tell kids about OnlyFans career after announcing she’s pregnant with third child

MARNIE Simpson has revealed how she’ll tell her children about her X-rated OnlyFans career.

The TV reality star, who announced she was expecting her third child with her partner Casey Johnson, said creating content for the adult online subscription site is not a big deal.

Marnie, 33, admitted she has no plans to discuss her career choice with her kids – saying she got up to worse things on Geordie Shore.

“All I’m trying to do is create an amazing life for my family and myself. I’ve raised my children to be good people, not to judge, and to always be supportive,” she told New magazine.

“I don’t think it’ll even need to be a discussion – they know me inside out. Plus, I did much worse on Geordie Shore!”

The TV favourite clarified: “I’m not classed as an explicit account – it’s more applied nudity.”

Marnie often shared sultry content to her social media accounts as well as being a favourite on OnlyFans.

But last week Marnie took to social media with an announcement post, as she revealed she’s pregnant.

Sharing a video clip, she wrote: “Here we go again.”

Marnie and her reality TV star husband Casey are already parents to Rox, born October 2019 and Oax, who she welcomed in 2022.

The star had a very difficult first birth and while pregnant with her second child she insisted she would not have any more.

She said at the time: “I would not go to three,” she said. “I think you’ve got to find the balance for yourselves.

“We want to enjoy our lives as well. We’ve not waited too long to have kids and I feel like having two, we can give them the best life possible.”

Marnie previously described her first labour, which lasted 28 hours, as traumatic and insisted on having a c-section the second time round.

Marnie was diagnosed with a chronic UTI in 2016 and after giving birth to baby Rox in 2019, her symptoms began to get a lot worse.

Marnie got engaged  to X Factor singer Casey back in 2020, and they wed in May 2023.

The pair met on the show Single AF in 2017.

They confirmed their relationship just a few months after the show ended – a move that is against show rules but it didn’t seem to worry the smitten love-birds.

Entire country plunged into darkness as 19MILLION hit by power cut and no-one allowed outside in nationwide blackout

A LARGE power outage left millions of people across Chile in darkness on Tuesday.

The blackout, which hit in the mid-afternoon, affected the South American nation from the northern Arica and Parinacota region to the southern Los Lagos area.

The country declared a state of emergency and curfew from 10pm to 6am local time for the regions affected by the blackout.

Its grid operator said a disruption had occurred in a high-voltage transmission line that carries power from the Atacama Desert to the capital of Santiago.

The National Electrical Coordinator did not say what actually caused the disruption that pushed much of Chile‘s power grid into shutdown.

And the government ruled out an attack or sabotage as the reason for the power loss saying a system failure was more likely to blame.

Authorities in Santiago, a city of around 8.4 million people, said there would be no subway service until further notice.

Interior Minister Carolina Toh said hospitals, prisons and government buildings were switching on backup generators to keep essential equipment operating.

In a press conference, Toh urged the public to stay calm and said officials were racing to put the grid back in operation and restore electric service across the country of some 19 million people.

“It’s affecting the entire electrical system of the country,” she said of the breakdown in the 500-kV backbone transmission line.

Toh said if all areas didn’t return to normal by sunset the government would take emergency measures to avert a crisis.

One of the country’s main electricity distributors, Saesa, confirmed that all of its customers had experienced the power failure.

Officials said they were evacuating passengers from darkened tunnels and subway stations in Santiago and elsewhere in the country, including the coastal tourist hotspot of Valparaiso.

Videos on social media from all over Chile showed chaos at intersections with no functioning traffic lights.

People also had use their mobile phones as torches in the underground metro and police were dispatched to help evacuate office buildings.

Transport Minister Juan Carlos Muoz urged people to stay home.

At the very most, he said just 27 per cent of city traffic lights are working.

Mobile phone services also blinkered offline in parts of the country.

Authorities at Santiago International Airport said terminals had switched to emergency power to keep flights operating as usual.

“They let us leave work because of the power cut, but now I don’t know how we will get home because all the buses are full,” worker Maria Angelica Roman, 45, told AFP in Santiago.

“At the bank where I work, all operations had to stop,” 25-year-old clerk Jonathan Macalupu said.

Escondida, the world’s largest copper mine, was without electricity, a source close to the matter told Reuters.

President Gabriel Boric flew over the capital by helicopter to assess the situation.

In 2010, damage to a power plant in southern Chile plunged hundreds of thousands of people into darkness for several hours.

The outage happened a month after a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake killed more than 500 people and rocked the national power grid.

Keir Starmer accepts apology from cabinet minister Jonathan Reynolds over misrepresenting his legal career

SIR KEIR Starmer has accepted an apology from Cabinet Minister Jonathan Reynolds over misrepresenting his legal career.

The Business Secretary was a trainee solicitor but left the profession when he entered politics.

Yet he later described himself as a solicitor in a Commons debate.

The term is legally protected and it’s an offence to use the term if not qualified and formally registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Mr Reynolds, who also used it on his LinkedIn page, has apologised to the Prime Minister in a letter for the “inadvertent errors”.

Number 10 said: “He’s written to the Prime Minister offering an unreserved apology for inadvertent errors made and he’s provided an explanation and an apology that the Prime Minister has accepted.

“The Prime Minister and the Business Secretary are focused on delivering on the plan for change and delivering on the priorities of British people, driving growth in the economy, and the Prime Minister looks forward to continuing to work with the Business Secretary on that agenda.”

Downing Street said there would not be any change to Mr Reynolds’ work while the SRA looks into him.

The SRA hasn’t launched a formal investigation.

A Labour source suggested the reference to him being a solicitor on his LinkedIn profile was “human error” and said Mr Reynolds did not manage the profile.

Police inspector to face probe over ‘failures’ in search for fitness instructor killed by train

A POLICE inspector is to face a misconduct hearing over alleged failures in a search to find a mentally ill young man killed by a train.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has recommended West Midlands inspector Colin Baker should face disciplinary action over the 2020 death of Matthew Caseby, 23.

Personal fitness instructor Matthew was sectioned to Birmingham‘s Woodbourne Priory Hospital in September that year for his own safety after being found running on live train lines near Oxford.

An inquest in 2023 heard how he escaped from the psychiatric unit  three days later by climbing over a 7ft 6in tall fence after being left “inappropriately unattended” in a courtyard and died 15 hours later.

Police were alerted following his escape, but Inspector Baker – in charge of overseeing the force’s 999 emergency response – is said to have assessed Matthew as being at “medium” risk of serious harm.

It meant a full-scale search was not carried out despite police being aware of Matthew’s mental health history and their logs stating he had threatened self-harm at the hospital before his escape.

The risk assessment was upgraded to ‘High’ the following morning when a new duty team took over 999 calls – but university graduate Matthew walked in front of a train two hours later.

Matthew’s father Richard had travelled to Birmingham from London to carry out his own search after hearing his son had escaped and was within 200 yards of him when he died.

Communications consultant Mr Caseby said last night: “I flagged down three patrol cars during the night of my search.

“Not a single officer knew anything about my son’s escape.

“West Midlands Police utterly failed my family when we needed them most.”

The police watchdog launched an investigation into police actions following a complaint from Matthew’s family.

An IOPC spokesman said: “Our investigation considered the initial risk assessments and subsequent reviews by officers, the actions taken to locate Matthew, and what consideration was given to concerns and information relayed by his parents.

“During the investigation, we reviewed documents provided as part of the inquest proceedings along with force and national policies on missing persons and mental health.

“We obtained statements from several witnesses and interviewed a police inspector under misconduct caution.

“At the end of our investigation, we provided our report and findings to the police force and Matthew’s father.

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

“We decided that a police inspector should attend a misconduct meeting in relation to their decision making and handling of information after Matthew was reported missing.

“It is for West Midlands Police to arrange the disciplinary proceedings.

“We won’t be in a position to make public any further information until after the disciplinary process.”

The inquest jury concluded that Matthew’s death was contributed  by failings of the Woodbourne Priory Hospital.

Last year the Priory Group was fined £650,000 at Birmingham magistrates’ court after admitting a charge of safety failures under the Health and Social Care Act.

It followed an investigation conducted into the circumstances surrounding Matthew’s death by the Care Quality Commission at the behest of his campaigning father.
