Padley took up the fight in Riyadh after Stevenson’s original opponent Floyd Schofield claimed he was ‘poisoned’ before the bout.

The pair are battled it out for the WBC lightweight title in a desert dust-up.

But it was Padley’s remarkable ink that caught fans’ attention early on in the contest.

The 29-year-old has a full-back tattoo featuring legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson.

In the huge tatt, Tyson is seen punching Greek god Zeus square in the face.

Underneath the bizarre scene are the words “Team Padley.”

After spotting the ink, one fan gasped: “One thing I can say about Padley so far is that’s a hard-a** tattoo on his back.”

Another said: “That Padley tatt goes hard.”

While a third laughed: “Unreal ink on Padley.”

Padley got the tattoo done in 2020, with the work taking several sessions to complete.

Crediting tattoo artist Ryan Watson, he wrote on Facebook: “One more sitting to go, thank f***.

“Anyone who says back tattoos don’t hurt is a liar.”

Unbeaten in 15 pro bouts, Padley beat Mark Chamberlain in a huge upset on the AJ versus Daniel Dubois show at Wembley Stadium last year.

Speaking to SunSport in September, he said: “My alarm was set for a 6am start.

“I got a call to tell me I had to be in London the next day for 3pm for the launch press conference.

“The call came when I was driving from my paid job to go and work on my own house so I had a van full of rubbish ready to go to the local tip.

“So I texted the lads I was supposed to be working with and told them, ‘I won’t be in tomorrow, you’ll have to crack on without me.’

“I didn’t tell my bosses, I got messages from them saying, ‘Where are you?’ and then one saying, ‘Are you on the AJ undercard?’

“I had to come clean and they replied, ‘Not great for the next few jobs we had lined up – but we’re absolutely over the moon for you.'”

Plan to stay open pubs late if Lionesses make Euro semi-finals

BOOZERS will be able to open later if England or Wales reach the finals of the Women’s Euros, the Sun on Sunday can reveal.

Ministers are hatching a plan to extend licensing hours from 11pm to 1am if they reach the semis or final in Switzerland this July.

Ministers hope it will give a much needed boost to Britain’s pubs and bars.

England’s Lionesses made history in 2022 with a 2-1 extra-time victory over rivals Germany at a sold-out Wembley.

Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson said: “The Lionesses showed us in 2022 what it means to bring football home, and now we want to make sure the whole nation can come together again to cheer on our teams.

“These plans will help our pubs and bars stay open longer if England or Wales make it to the final stages, allowing friends and families to celebrate together and providing a welcome boost to our hospitality industry.”

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has the power to extend licensing hours for occasions of “exceptional international, national or local significance”.

Plans will be subject to a four-week public consultation online.

Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association, added: “This is a crucial opportunity for the hospitality sector at a time when many businesses continue to navigate financial challenges.”

UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 runs from 2 to 27 July 2025.

Keir Starmer must convince Donald Trump that support for Nato and Ukraine is more vital than ever

Leaders walking tightrope for peace

SIR KEIR Starmer will be walking a tightrope on his visit to Washington this week.

The stakes couldn’t be much higher at the PM’s first face-to-face meeting with Donald Trump since he returned to the White House.

The US President has made it clear he wants a lightning-fast deal to end the ruinous, unwinnable war in Ukraine.

To achieve that, he has negotiated directly with the tyrant who started it, Vladimir Putin. And he seems happy to keep Europe and Ukraine’s valiant leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, at bay.

Even at the risk of emboldening the bloodthirsty Putin.

The PM is right to point to the direct threat a flawed deal poses to the security of Britain.

As he says today: “A peace deal that does not stop Putin attacking again would be a disaster.”

In May we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

America’s security guarantee to Nato has kept the peace in Europe ever since.

We have stood together united against tyranny whenever freedom was under threat.

This week the PM must convince the new president this support is more vital than ever.

Anything less could mean that ending one conflict only lights the fuse of another.

Protect our children

IT is vital that parents can trust those employed to look after their children.

So a family court judge’s decision to name a private maternity nurse she found had badly injured twin babies is welcome.

In her ruling, the judge said she had taken the rare step because the nurse was working in an unregulated area of the health industry.

If her name had remained secret, other unsuspecting parents might hire her and put their own infants in danger.

This is a horrific case and Health Secretary Wes Streeting must look into it urgently.

The judge has highlighted a shocking loophole that must be closed immediately.

We cannot risk children’s safety at any price.

That’s a slowtorway

THE average speed on a stretch of the M25 is down to 14.7 miles an hour.

At that pace it would be quicker to travel by pushbike than in a car.

But as long-suffering motorists know, there is one thing slower than the traffic on the M25.

The roadworks.

Anthony Joshua gives cryptic update over future amid Tyson Fury fight talk in interview at Beterbiev vs Bivol 2

ANTHONY JOSHUA gave a cryptic response when answering a question about his boxing future.

Riyadh’s bill has been dubbed as the greatest in boxing history, with Callum Smith handing Josh Buatsi the first pro LOSS of his career.

Zhilei Zhang was then stopped by Agit Kabayel, before Joseph Parker faced late-replacement Martin Bakole after Daniel Dubois‘ late withdrawal.

Joshua joined a star-studded list of boxers watching among Saudi’s elite.

But the 35-year-old didn’t leave fans with much to go on when he was quizzed on his future.

On what’s next, AJ said: “More fights, this is my life, this is what I do.

“Right now I sit outside and I watch and then I’ll make my return one day.

“Right right I sit back as a fan and watch the great people in the sport I love.”

AJ’s ambiguous words were not the usual tough-talking messages the public typically hear from active boxers.

Instead of calling opponents out and showing an urgency to return to the ring, AJ hinted that his next fight isn’t coming any time soon.

The Watford boxer didn’t indicate a close return and made it sound like it could perhaps happen in the distance future.

Many – including promoter Eddie Hearn – had hopes that Tyson Fury will overturn his retirement and fight AJ.

Fans are convinced that Tyson, 36, will come out of retirement to fight again.

A blockbuster all-British bout against AJ has been long in the making.

Fury has announced his retirement five times in total, with his last hiatus from the ring in 2022.

Meanwhile, AJ was spotted chatting closely with unified heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk ringside tonight.

He lied about having no family in Africa while his complex love life involved having two children in an on-off relationship with an Albanian migrant.

Yet he was allowed to stay in 2011 by invoking his right to family life under European conventions, with judges giving him a chance to turn his life around.

But within three years he was jailed over his sexual affair with the teenager and served more time for wounding, carrying an imitation gun and having a knife.

Immigration judges have now finally agreed to return him to his native Zimbabwe, saying: “His right to respect for his family is extremely heavily outweighed in this case by the need to protect the public from his likely very serious continued criminality.”

His life of crime began shortly after he arrived in Yorkshire as a dependant of his mother’s in 2006.

The charge sheet included burglary, stealing a car, affray and carrying a knife.

While in jail he was told he would be deported — but had become a father and the threat was lifted.

His later sex and other crimes meant he was jailed for 8½ of his 18 years in the UK.

Reform MP Rupert Lowe said: “If you come here and commit serious crimes, you should be on the next plane home in cuffs.”

The Home Office said: “We remain resolute in our commitment to ensuring there are no barriers to deporting criminals.”
