EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer breaks silence on Martin’s death as she pays tribute to James Bye saying ‘you’ll be missed’
EASTENDERS legend Patsy Palmer has broken her silence on Martin’s death as she paid tribute to actor James Bye saying ‘you’ll be missed so much’.
The BBC soap marked its 40th anniversary with a jaw-dropping live broadcast yesterday, which saw Martin lose his life in the destruction at the Queen Vic.

Taking to Instagram afterwards, Patsy, 52, who plays Bianca Jackson, shared a grab from the installment, with a subtitle reading: “It’s only a nunny!”
The comedic line had come from Natalie Cassidy‘s Sonia Fowler, who was giving birth within the derelict.
Heaping praise on James Bye, 40, for his performance, she wrote in her caption: “I can honestly say hand on heart that I loved every second of tonight.
“Doing a live episode of Eastenders again after so many years was spectacular. I loved how we had the comedy too amongst so much heartbreak. It was a beautiful mix of emotions.
“@jimmybye I just want to say you will be missed so much by everyone but you will go on to be the leading man that you deserve to be.
“Your performance was amazing tonight and just gorgeous for all the years as Martin Fowler.
“As for the rest of you and you all know who you are I think you are all such a beautiful bunch of actors and friends .
“Teamwork is always dreamwork and it certainly felt like a dream.
“@bbceastenders Thanks for including me in this journey, very honored. Congratulations to the writer and to @lancekneeshaw for directing.”
Martin died in ex-wife Stacey Slater’s arms in the closing seconds of the episode.
He had been crushed under a falling steel beam after rescuing Stacey from the wreckage of an explosion in the Queen Vic pub.
In heartbreaking scenes, he proposed and planned the next 40 years of their lives before the paramedics told Stacey that he would likely not survive his injuries.
Speaking on his dramatic exit, James said: “Saying goodbye is not easy, but after 10 years at EastEnders and on the night of the shows epic 40th anniversary – the time felt right.
“It’s an honour to leave on a story of this magnitude.
“A huge thank you to all the fans of the show – EastEnders wouldn’t be what it is without you – and to the BBC and EastEnders team for trusting me with this role for so many years.
“This fruit and veg man will always hold a special place in my heart.
“It’s time to look forward, and I’m incredibly excited for what the future holds. RIP Martin Fowler.”
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw added: “It’s incredibly sad to say goodbye to James, who has been a much loved loyal company member for 10 years.
“James’ performance in tonight’s live episode was nothing short of outstanding and one that I know will touch so many of you watching at home due to his loveable portrayal of Martin Fowler, which has made him a firm favourite amongst the viewers.
“When discussing James’ exit, we knew that we needed to give Martin Fowler the big explosive storyline that his character deserved.
“To leave the show in such an emotional storyline, during a live episode is something incredibly courageous to do as an actor, and one that I’m sure will cement itself in EastEnders’ history.
“I would like to thank James for everything he’s given to EastEnders, and although we will all miss him here at Elstree, he will always remain a member of the EastEnders family and we wish him the best for the future.”

“It’s a week tomorrow since I’ve had the surgery, I’m happy even the kids are like, ‘oh my god Mum, this is the best your face has looked ….”

Over the years, Katie has had multiple boob jobs, facelifts and dental procedures.
Although the cost in real terms could be north of £100k, Katie hasn’t had to foot the bill.
And despite concern from those closest to her over the years, she says she wishes she’d taken advantage of the freebies more.
Speaking to Rob Moore on the Disruptors podcast, she explained how by posting her procedures in Instagram she’s able to have them done for nothing.
She said: “Considering I’ve got an open book, like you’re in a restaurant. I can have any surgery I want from most clinics, I don’t take advantage of it as much as I could.
“If I did and really let myself go, I’d look like an alien, and I don’t want to look like an alien.”
Elsewhere, Katie revealed how she plans for son Harvey to make some money – after he lost his residential care home place.
The former I’m A Celebrity contestant said she is determined to help Harvey, 22, earn “pocket money” and charging fans for videos through Cameo and to meet her son is a good place to start.
Katie said: “Harvey is going to earn some pocket money.

1998-2000: Katie described Dane Bowers as ‘the love of her life’ but she broke up with the singer when he allegedly cheated on her.
2001: Footballer Dwight Yorke is the father of Katie’s eldest child Harvey. He has had very little to do with Harvey throughout his life.

2019: Katie was linked to Charles Drury during her on-off relationship with Kris. Charles, who also dated Lauren Goodger, has always denied being in “official relationship” with her.
2020-2023: Car salesman Carl Woods took a shining to Katie in 2020. Their relationship was up and down for three years. They broke up for a final time last year.
2024-present: After weeks of rumours, Katie confirmed her relationship with Married At First Sight star JJ Slater in February this year.
“So as soon as Harvey is back living near me, I’m going to get him on Cameo and doing club PAs.”
Harvey, who has Prader-Willi Syndrome, autism, and partial blindness, had been preparing to move to a new residentical care placement in just four-and-a-half weeks when Katie was suddenly told the facility could no longer cater for him.
“They’ve changed management and said they won’t be able to cater for Harv because he’s too difficult,” she explained on her podcast.
“So now I’ve got to find another placement for him… so yeah, more drama to deal with.”

B&M shoppers go wild for rare Cadbury Dairy Milk bar back on shelves
EAGLED-EYED shoppers have spotted a rare Cadbury chocolate bar back on B&M shelves.
The bargain retailer is no stranger to importing Aussie treats, with past hits like Dairy Milk Raspberry bars, which flew off shelves last June.

The Dairy Milk Cadbury Lamington 50g bar, priced at £1, is inspired by the classic Aussie dessert.
It combines smooth chocolate with raspberry jam-flavoured pieces, vanilla cake bits and a hint of coconut.
Originally exclusive to Australia, this sought-after treat, has seemingly made its way to the UK, delighting chocolate enthusiasts.
One excited shopper took to Facebook and took a snap of the rare chocolate back on shelves at B&M.
B&M is known for importing unique treats from around the world.
Other Australian favourites spotted include the Cherry Ripe Berry Truffle bar, featuring cherries, coconut, and blackcurrant flavour in dark chocolate, and the Twirl Caramilk, boasting a blonde chocolate centre coated in Dairy Milk chocolate.
Availability may vary by location, so it’s advisable to check your local B&M store.
Remember, you can find your nearest B&M branch by using the retailer’s store finder tool on its website.
The treats were last seen in stores in June, when one shopper found them in their local branch and shared a snap on the NewfoodsUK Facebook page.
Shoppers were quick to react, with plenty eager to get their hands on the chocolate bar.
One said: “Got to have it!” while another added: “Looks yummy.”
Meanwhile, a third simply wrote: “Delicious,” and a fourth chimed in: “I’ll have to go and get some to try!”
Of course, whenever buying anything like this, make sure you shop around to see where to get the best deal.
Websites like Trolley and Price Spy let you compare prices on thousands of products to see which retailer is selling them cheapest.
You can use the Google Shopping/Product tab to quickly scan the internet too.
We had a quick look online to see if any other retailers are selling the Cadbury Lamington bar and if they have it cheaper.
However, as the bar is imported from Australia, we couldn’t find any major retailers which sell it.
Usually these chocolate bars are incredibly expensive to import, and can be found at Candy Mail, although the retailer is not currently selling the product
To put things into perspective, a 173g Dairy Milk Marble bar—another Aussie import—is currently listed online for £5.99.
And that’s before you even factor in shipping costs.
How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…
Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
With these rare finds back in stock, now’s the perfect time to indulge your sweet tooth with a taste of Australia.
Other rare chocolates have also been spotted recently at the budget retailer.
Shoppers were caught going bananas over New Zealand’s Perky Nanas.
The sweet treat is now being sold at the discount store for just £1.
The soft banana-flavoured 45g chew bar comes covered with Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate.

Exact detail to spot on £2 coin which makes it worth 60 times its value
A RARE £2 coin could be worth more than £120 and you might have one sitting in your pocket right now
The sought-after sterling is part of the Shakespeare £2 series, released by the Royal Mint in 2016.

But a special minting error has made some of them highly valuable.
Shakespeare £2 coins dubbed Tragedies, Comedies, and Histories were issued by the Royal Mint in 2016.
This was to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Britain’s famous playwright.
The coin with the supposed error on it is the Tragedies £2.
It features a skull and rose motif in a nod to William Shakespeare‘s works on tragic love affairs.
TikTok coin guru Coin Collecting Wizard, who’s real name is Barry Graham, has sent collectors into a frenzy with his latest video, in which he explains what to look out for.
In the video he explains: “It is a hard to spot error affecting the edge of the coin that has attracted interest from collectors.”
It should have “what a piece of work is man” inscribed on the side of the coin, which is a line from Hamlet, but coin collectors have noticed some seem to have the wrong inscription.
They instead read “for king and country”, which is the phrase that’s supposed to be on the Royal Mint’s First World War £2 issued in 2016 to commemorate the role of the army in WWI.
He adds that: “Mint errors like this one can add significant value to common coins.
“Several incorrect edge errors are known on £2 coins with the edge swapped for another belonging to a coin minted in the same year.”
Excited viewers flooded the comments, with one revealing: “I have five of these.”
Another user chimed in, saying: “I have three.”
A third simply added: “I have this.”
Last month, the Coin Collector UK explained on TikTok that one of the botched coins sold for £123 in 2024.
The condition of the coin is also likely to have an impact, with collectors preferring those without scratches and signs of wear and tear.
It’s worth having a look just in case you have one in your pocket or purse.
What are the most rare and valuable coins?
- Five rarest coins – do you have one?
- The 13 most valuable £2 coins in circulation
- How valuable are the rarest £1 coins?
- Most rare and valuable 50p coins in circulation
- Rare and most valuable 20p coins that could be worth up to £750
- Rarest 10p coins in circulation
- Rare 2p coins revealed
- How to check if you have a rare and valuable banknote
A coin is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay at the time though, and demand can vary over time.
Previously we’ve spotted the coin going for as much as £230.
Rare coins could sell for more if a collector needs one to complete a collection, for example.
A coin is usually considered rare if it has a low mintage figure – this is set by The Royal Mint.
A mintage figure relates to how many of a coin were made, so the lower it is the rarer the coin is.
You can find out what coins are rare and how they look on The Royal Mint’s website.
But some are also considered rare due to manufacturing errors, like this Shakespeare tragedy coin.
Mintage figures show that there are around 4.6million of these coins in circulation but it’s not known how many of these are error coins.
One of the most famous error coins – an Olympic swimming 50p from 2012 – sold for £410 in 2020.
In 2024, Coin Collecting Wizard revealed images of seldom-seen change that could bag you hundreds of pounds.
How can I check if my error coin is genuine?
RARE and valuable coins can go for a hefty sum - but how do you know if your coin is the result of a genuine minting error?
The best way to find out if you have an error coin is to send it to the Royal Mint museum, which will analyse it and see if it is a result of a genuine minting error or not.
It’ll normally take a couple of weeks to get the results back to you.
But remember, there’s a difference between a genuine error coin and one that is just imperfect, for example with a design that is not as clear as you’d expect.
And whatever you do, don’t be tempted to splash your cash without evidence from the Mint confirming that it’s a genuine error.
The collector explained that the 1894 predecimal penny “easily sells” for over £160 if it’s in “extrafine condition”.
The coin depicts Queen Victoria facing left on one side and the Helmed Britannia seated facing right on the reverse.
The collector from Sunderland previously told The Sun that he has an entire room dedicated to his “very large collection” including “uncirculated, circulated and proof coins including gold and silver”.
The coin expert, who also describes himself as a history enthusiast, goes by the name of “Coin Collecting Wizard” on social media and regularly shares details on some of the rarest coins that could see you pocket quite a bit of money.
The coin collector said: “I enjoy the hobby very much and also know this will be my children’s inheritance one day too.”
HOW TO SELL A RARE COIN
If you are lucky enough to find a genuine rare coin there are a number of options when it comes to selling it.
including through Facebook, eBay or in an auction.
But be wary of the risks. A number of people have been targeted by scammers on Facebook.
Crooks say they’re planning to buy the item, and ask for money upfront for a courier to send to your home.
But you end up sending free cash to them and they never have any intention of picking your item up.
It’s always best to meet in person when buying or selling on Facebook Marketplace and in a public place.
And most sellers prefer to deal with cash directly when meeting to ensure it’s legitimate.
The safest way to sell a rare coin is more than likely at auction. You can organise this with The Royal Mint’s Collectors Service.
It has a team of experts who can help you authenticate and value your coin.
You can get in touch via email and a member of the valuation team will get back to you.
EastEnders fans predict a THIRD major character’s return – five years after they left BBC soap
EASTENDERS fans are convinced they have worked out the next major return to Albert Square – and it could be happening pretty soon.
After the shocking live episode that saw Martin Fowler lose his life, viewers are now predicting that his daughter Bex Fowler will return to Walford for his funeral five years after she left the BBC soap.

Fans of the soap have taken to X to share their theories about the potential comeback.
One wrote: “She’s definitely coming back.”
Another asked: “Are they gonna bring Bex back for Martin’s funeral?”
A third added: “I would love to see Bex on my screen again. I loved herrr.”
And a fourth said: “With Martin sadly gone, I hope we see Bex make an appearance for his funeral.”
Bex (Jasmine Armfield) was last seen in Walford in 2020 when she made the decision to leave for a fresh start, heading off to travel the world after a difficult few years.
She had struggled with her mental health and attempted to take her own life before making the choice to leave Walford behind.
Her departure was emotional, and her parents Sonia and Martin were initially against her plans, but they ultimately gave her their blessing.
At the time of her exit, the soap’s Executive Producer Jon Sen praised Jasmine’s portrayal of Bex, saying: “She’s brought something incredibly special to the role of Bex and we will all miss her – both as a friend and colleague.”
Jasmine also shared her feelings on leaving the show, saying: “I’ve had such a fantastic time playing Bex Fowler and loved being part of EastEnders, but now feels like the right time to try something new.”
With Martin now gone, fans believe the character could make a dramatic return to pay tribute to her father – and possibly even stick around for longer.
EastEnders has been making a habit of bringing back former stars recently, with the soap’s 40th anniversary featuring a shocking return for Queen Vic legend Angie Watts.
The secret cameo left both viewers and cast members stunned.
Anita Dobson, who plays Angie, triumphantly declared that she managed to keep her lips sealed about the surprise comeback.
The actress only informed her husband about the scene, keeping friends and even other EastEnders co-stars in the dark.
Missing Brit Charlotte Peet’s phone STILL on but calls unanswered & she never took trip after buying ticket, says cops
THE phone of missing Brit journalist Charlotte Peet is still active but calls are going unanswered, Brazilian cops have said.
Investigators have also confirmed that while she purchased a ticket from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, she never used it, deepening the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

The 32-year-old, who reported from Brazil for major international outlets, was last heard from on February 8.
That day, she messaged a friend via WhatsApp saying she she was in São Paulo and looking for a place to stay in Rio.
The friend told her that her house was full, and the pair did not speak ever since.
The Special Tourist Assistance Unit in Rio de Janeiro confirmed that Charlotte’s phone remains on, but all calls go unanswered, Folha de Sao Paulo reports.
Investigators made several calls to the Brit’s device on Monday but were unable to get hold of her.
This led authorities to expand the search, checking hospitals and morgues in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, so far without success.
The case has now been transferred to São Paulo’s State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), as it was the last place she was known to be.
One of the biggest clues so far is that Peet bought a ticket from São Paulo to Rio but never used it.
Police are now investigating why she didn’t board and are working to track down security camera footage that could provide insights into her movements before she vanished.
Adding to the puzzle is her last activity on social media.
Her most recent Instagram post was in July 2024, while just four days before her disappearance, she posted in a Facebook group looking for a double room in London — suggesting she may have been considering returning home.
She wrote: “Hello. I’m looking for a double room in South West/East London: East Dulwich, Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham, Balham, Streatham, Camberwell etc or would consider venturing east to the right place.
“I’m a 32-year-old journalist, friendly, respectful and organised. I love reading, keeping active and chatting to friends.
“Let me know if I sound like a good fit! Thanks!”
Peet, who has been working as a journalist in Brazil since 2020, briefly returned to London at the end of 2023 after her family expressed concerns about what they described as her “party life” in Brazil.
But she decided to return to the country in November.
Charlotte’s worried dad Derek Peet said he is “very concerned.”
He said that his daughter flew to Brazil where she had worked as a freelance journalist without telling her family.
Mr Peet said: “I wouldn’t say that it was normal, there was something on her mind obviously otherwise she would have let us know.”
“She was then traced to Gatwick Airport and was found to have boarded a plane to Sao Paulo and then the trail went cold.
“It’s very worrying but I don’t have any more to say, I’m very concerned but I just don’t know what’s going on, we’re just trying to pick up the pieces really.”
While police have not ruled out the possibility that Peet voluntarily cut contact with her loved ones, her family remains deeply concerned.
They have provided investigators with her bank account details, IMEI tracking information for her phone, and a copy of her passport in the hopes of finding her.
The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in Brazil has issued a statement urging authorities to intensify their search.
Meanwhile, Peet’s family has created an email address to collect any information about her whereabouts.

Luigi Mangione ‘Jesus mural’ seen at courthouse as sick fans call CEO ‘assassin’ a ‘bright light & camp out for hearing’
DIGITAL billboards advocating for the release of Luigi Mangione have emerged in Lower Manhattan ahead of his court appearance.
A black box truck with images of Mangione was seen driving past Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday morning before the accused assassin, 26, is set to appear for his first hearing since pleading not guilty to murder and terror charges.

The digital billboard appeared hours after a digital projection of Mangione, depicted as the Sacred Heart of Jesus, emerged on the side of a building near Lafayette and Canal Street on Thursday evening.
The projection showed Mangione wearing a green and white cloak with a shining red heart on the center.
Yellow letters reading “Free Luigi” were printed across Mangione’s neck.
Mangione is facing state and federal charges in connection to the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s chief executive Brian Thompson, who was gunned down on a bustling sidewalk in Midtown on December 4.
