Aston Villa 1 Ipswich 1: Ten-man Tractor Boys grab crucial point through Delap as Rashford plays huge role in equaliser

TEN-MAN Ipswich held on to a vital point despite Marcus Rashford starting an Aston Villa fight back.

The Tractor Boys were reduced to ten before half-time when Axel Tuanzebe was shown red.

Liam Delap had opened the scoring but Ollie Watkins levelled after Rashford’s free-kick hit the bar allowing the striker to score the rebound.

UK’s most valuable 50p coin sells for 148 TIMES its worth after eBay bidding war – check unique sketch to watch out for

THE UK’s most valuable 50p has been sold for 148 times its original value.

The Atlantic Salmon coin sparked a fierce bidding war on eBay.

The coin is one of eight designs that have a nature-based theme in celebration of the King’s passion for conservation.

The collection features designs on the coins ranging from 1pm to £2.

The 50p that was listed as a “unique and collectible piece for coin enthusiasts” sold for £74.34.

In October 2024, The Royal Mint exclusively revealed to The Sun the Kew Gardens 50p has been dethroned by the Atlantic Salmon 50p.

The coin was struck to highlight the plight of the species of fish, whose population is in decline.

The 50p piece started entering general circulation at the end of 2023 as part of a new series of coins marking the ascension of King Charles to the throne.

Up until now, The Royal Mint, the official maker of British coins, has yet published confirmed figures on how many of the Atlantic Salmon were put into circulation.

However, it has now been revealed 200,000 were sent to banks and post offices across the UK at the end of last year.

There were 210,000 Kew Gardens 50p coins put into circulation 15 years ago which has made it the rarest of the 50ps for over a decade.

But the latest mintage figures from The Royal Mint show its spot has now been taken by the Atlantic Salmon 50p.

Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coins at The Royal Mint said: “The releasing of mintage figures is an eagerly anticipated event among the coin collecting community – and this year is particularly exciting as we reveal the Atlantic Salmon as the rarest 50p in circulation.

“For the first time in 15 years, the highly collectable Kew Gardens 50p loses its top spot as the rarest in circulation with the Atlantic Salmon 50p splashing its way to number one.”

Collectors have already been finding the Atlantic Salmon 50p piece hard to come by, with some willing to pay over the odds to get their hands on one.

Plenty of sellers on eBay have found theirs going for multiple times their face value.

Man City 4 Newcastle 0: Omar Marmoush scores devastating 14-minute hat-trick as hosts move into top four in blow to Toon

OMAR MARMOUSH clearly got the hump when they billed this as a shoot-out between the nation’s deadliest duo – and didn’t mean him.

It was supposedly an afternoon that would be decided by the deadly boots of Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak.

The Egyptian celebrates putting Man City in front[/caption]

A day when the Premier League’s finest two finishers went head to head in a personal duel to see who ended the weekend in fourth place.

And yes, I know Mo Salah has more goals than both of them, but in terms of out and out centre forwards and goals-per-shot, these are the big two, believe me.

But not yesterday they weren’t. For while the Etihad was blown away by a goalscoring blitzkrieg, it wasn’t a Scandanavian hat-trick which had them on their feet.

Instead it was an Egyptian who wowed the crowd…a man who hadn’t scored a goal for City before yesterday.

Admittedly this was only the fourth time Marmoush has started since his January arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt.

And true, he did have a strike rate of more than one every other game for the Germans, so we’re hardly talking a man who doesn’t know his way to the goal here.

But regardless of all that, merely opening his account would have been good enough. Instead it became a day City’s latest top gunner will never forget. He won’t be the only one.

Even Haaland, to be fair, even if he did draw a blank…he’ll always look back on it as the day Pep Guardiola gave him the armband and he skippered the side for the first time.

Not too many others who were here will remember it for that, mind. For them it will be all about the first time Marmoush proved their Norwegian hitman is not the only hot shot in town.

Newcastle certainly found that to their cost, on an afternoon when – amazingly – City won three home Premier League games on the bounce for the first time this term.

It’s been that sort of season for the four-time champions. One which has become unforgettable for all the wrong reasons.

Yesterday Marmoush went some way to giving a memory which, however it ends three months from now, will at least give a couple of reasons to grin.

Three of them, to be precise. Unless you were of a Toon persuasion of course…Marmoush wiped the smile of Geordie faces with three deadly strikes in 15 devastating minutes.

The first of them came thanks to a record-breaking assist from Ederson, with a down-town punt from ten yards outside his own box.

Kieran Trippier was in the right position to deal with it, but instead of holding his ground, leapt for the header and never got close.

Instead the ball cleared him by a yard – and Martin Dubravka’s by even more – as Marmoush lobbed the Toon keeper for his first.

It was the SIXTH assist from the Brazilian boot of Ederson – a Premier League record for a goalkeeper.

Five minutes later City had doubled up as the Egyptian struck again – and once more Trippier was the closest defender to him. Not that this one was down to him.

Match stats graphic showing Manchester City beat Newcastle 4-0. Shot map showing 4 shots and 3 goals by Omar Marmoush against Newcastle.

It was more down to an assassin’s-eye finish from the striker, when Ilkay Gundogan strolled into midfield space and picked him out a couple of yards into the Newcastle box.

Marmoush took it in his stride, stepped smartly across Trippier and drilled a laser-like finish into the bottom corner.

Sure, he shouldn’t have been given anything like the room he was, so deep into Toon territory. But don’t let that disguise the fact it was despatched in clinical fashion.

City were coasting, Newcastle chaotic…and a couple of years ago that would have effectively made it game over in less than half an hour.

But after losing FIVE games when they have taken the lead already, certainly no chickens were being counted by City yet. It would take at least one more before anyone risked that.

On 32 minutes it duly arrived, as well. No prizes for the goalscorer either – it was a King Midas afternoon for Marmoush.

Golden touch number three was down to the dazzling, darting feet of Savinho, weaving such a path en route to the byline that poor Lewis Hall was in danger of getting twisted blood.

Match Stats

The Brazilian picked out Marmoush, who had pulled into space near the penalty spot, and he brought up the treble with a first time side-foot.

Job done for City, job done for the Egyptian, who got the standing ovation you’d expect when Guardiola gave him the final 14 minutes in the dugout.

Still time, though, for James McAtee to add a fourth, volleying in from bang in front when Haaland flicked on a Gundogan corner.

All of which means at least City will head to Spain with spirits high, as they take on that daunting task of overturning last week’s first leg Champions League loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Still one hell of a mountain to climb of course, but with Marmoush in this form you never know…Liverpool aren’t the only ones with an Egyptian king after all.

‘Just like Rodri…’ – Man City fans fear Erling Haaland could miss SEASON after nasty-looking knee injury vs Newcastle

MANCHESTER CITY fans fear Erling Haaland could miss the rest of the season after he sustained a a nasty-looking knee injury against Newcastle.

The striker was forced off the field just minutes before the end of City’s 4-0 win at the Etihad.

Fans fear Haaland could miss the rest of the season[/caption]

A 15-minute hat-trick from January signing Omar Marmoush set Pep Guardiola’s men on their way to victory.

And a late fourth from sub James McAtee ensured City bounced back from their midweek European defeat to Real Madrid in style.

But the champs didn’t have things all their own way.

With just moments left of the game, Haaland collapsed to the ground clutching his knee in agony.

The forward looked to be in discomfort as medics checked him over.

And City decided not to take any further risks as they hauled off the field.

Haaland then made his way to the bench with a pained expression on his face.

City doctors will now examine the hitman ahead of tough games against Real Madrid and Liverpool.

But some fans fear Haaland could be out for the remainder of the season, having already lost Rodri to an ACL setback.

One said: “Haaland jammed his knee just like Rodri did.”

Another declared: “We need Haaland for Real.”

One noted: “I hope he is OK.”

Another added: “Let’s hope he’s not serious.”

Man Utd in devastating blow amid fears Amad Diallo could be out for season after injury during training for Tottenham

AMAD DIALLO’s season could be over after suffering an injury in training before Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham.

Ruben Amorim warned a number of stars had suffered setbacks in training this week.

It has left Amorim with a huge selection headache after three more injuries were revealed earlier[/caption]

It was revealed earlier today that Manuel Ugarte, Toby Collyer and Kobbie Mainoo were all doubtful for the Sunday trip to London, with Mainoo set for more than a couple of weeks sidelined.

But the news has now gone from bad to worse with Amad now said to be the next star in the treatment room.

According to the Daily Mail, Amad has suffered an ankle ligament injury which could see him sidelined for the rest of the season.

Amad has been a key star for the Red Devils this season, with a number of match-winning displays.

He is the club’s joint top goalscorer alongside Bruno Fernandes on nine, while only the club captain (12) has provided more assists than the winger (7).

His versatility in being able to play at either wing-back or in the front three as well as his impressive intelligence in pressing made him incredibly important.

Reacting to the news on social media, one fan said: “It feels like last season repeating itself…. maybe worse!”

A second said: “So that’s Amad, Mainoo, Ugarte, Collyer out. What is going on?”

A third added: “I’m just taking a few breathes. This is gut-wrenching.”

Another said: “United could get relegated.”

A fifth said: “Yep, that’s the season over…”

The quadruple blow has now left Amorim with only three recognised attackers in his squad; Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garancho.

The lack of options both in attack and in the engine room has seen Amorim promote a number of academy stars to first-team training this week.

Jack Moorhouse, 19, has been included in the travelling squad to Spurs after impressing in the Under-21s.

Amorim, 40, personally watched the midfielder during a 5-1 win over Southampton in December, in which the Manchester-born star scored twice.

Injuries across the board have seen Amorim promote a number of youngsters into first-team training.

Striker Chido Obi and winger James Scanlon were not included with the Under-18 squad on Saturday following their participation in first-team training this week.

Asked specifically about 17-year-old Obi, Amorim said: “I don’t want to say names.

“We have to be careful on that. We have problems this week, we called some young players to be in our training.

“We have some data evaluation. He is one of them.”

Amorim was forced to name 21-year-old goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk on the Man Utd bench for the first time in the FA Cup triumph over Leicester with both Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton out injured.

Graczyk is effectively seventh-choice at Old Trafford, but fifth and eighth-choice players Elyh Harrison and William Murdock have been included in first-team training this week.

New arrival Ayden Heaven was also named on the bench after recently signing from Arsenal, while Patrick Dorgu started the game before he was hooked at half-time of the 2-1 win.

Pete Wicks looks downcast as he’s spotted for the first time since Maura Higgins split – and sends cryptic message to ex

PETE Wicks was seen looking downcast as was spotted for the first time since his shock split from Maura Higgins.

The ex-Towie star Pete, 37, and former Love Island star Maura, 34, ended their relationship following a string of fiery rows.

On Saturday morning, Pete was seen moving boxes into his car with the help of his mum Tracy.

The Strictly star wore a cream jumper, a pair of black trousers and some trainers.

He was seen moving plastic boxes filled with clothes to the boot, while him mum clutched some coats on a clothes hanger.

Despite yesterday being Valentine’s Day, the TV personality looked far from in the mood to celebrate romance right now.

The podcast host seemed in low spirits as he went about his errands.

He also sent a cryptic message to his ex while donning a cap with the writing ‘smoke and mirrors’ on.

Smoke and mirrors is a known idiom that means something is deceptive or misleading.

Yesterday, Maura stepped out looking red hot on a Valentine’s date following the split.

The reality star looked drop-dead gorgeous in the red show-stopping outfit as she was accompanied on the dinner date by her friend.

Maura appeared to take a swipe at Pete, captioning the post: “Left on Red,” which prompted a fan to ask: “Oh no, what did Pete do?”

Meanwhile, Pete has announced he’s taking on a job with Olivia Attwood – who’s famously in a feud with I’m A Celeb star Maura.

Maura and Pete had been linked with each other for more than a year before going official last autumn, and they were pictured snogging in pubs on multiple occasions.

But the pair remained extremely coy about their romance during their time together.

The couple spent a romantic Christmas break together in Ireland after her time on I’m A Celebrity and his successful Strictly stint.

It followed a rare admission from both that they missed one another while Maura was in the jungle.

Maura, meanwhile, who has previously dated Love Island legends Curtis Pritchard and Chris Taylor, was just as cagey on Loose Women last month.

When panellist Frankie Bridge said that her and Pete made a good couple, Maura replied: “Do we really? I never really thought about it.”

Going on, she said: “Not really much to tell, we spend time together, get on really well, and he is a great person.

“But there is nothing to tell.”

Former Towie man Pete admitted to Lorraine Kelly in a recent interview that he didn’t like to publicly talk about relationships after years of his romances making headlines.

The writing was already on the wall last month when Maura declared “I don’t need a man”.

When asked in an interview with The Times whether she has “terrible taste in men,” the Love Island star replied: “Yes.”

She went on to say “it would be lovely” to be in love, and coyly said she’s “happy now,” when asked whether or not she’d found the one.

And on the topic of Pete, Maura shared: “I don’t feel like I need a man. But I’ll date, and I’ll see where something goes, and if it happens, it happens.”

It comes after Pete did an interview with the same publication, and revealed why he has never been in a long term romance.

He said: “[Settling down] is the bit I just can’t do.

“The minute a relationship gets to the point where I seem to be having an impact on someone’s life, it scares the sh*t out of me.”

Speaking about past relationships, Pete added: “Yeah. Over the years, people have tried to understand me, but if you don’t understand yourself, it’s very difficult for anyone else to understand you.”
