MARTIN KEOWN finally apologised for his iconic scream in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s face live on TV.
The former Arsenal defender famously celebrated wildly when the ex-Manchester United striker slammed his 2003 penalty against the crossbar.
Keown got right up to the dejected Dutchman following his miss in the final moments of the pulsating Premier League showdown between the Gunners and Red Devils at Old Trafford.
The no-nonsense centre-half has constantly defended his behaviour for more than two decades.
But as Keown and Van Nistelrooy were reunited at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, the ex-England defender did say sorry – although did not explicitly mention what for.
As Leicester manager Van Nistelrooy spoke to TNT Sports before kick-off against Arsenal, the pair put their past clashes behind them.
The duo shook hands for a long while and Van Nistelrooy asked: “Martin how are you? Good to see you.”
Keown replied: “Nice to see you after all these years.”
Van Nistelrooy, 48, added: “It has been a while. I have seen you once, at Villa Park, remember?”
Then Keown offered out his olive branch.

He said: “Apologies for all the shenanigans that went on back in the day.”
But Van Nistelrooy clearly holds no grudges.
He responded: “Nah. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch.”
Joe Cole piped up: “He’s never apologised for kicking me, ever.”
Keown, 58, then joked: “I thought you were going to stamp on me.”
Van Nistelrooy then added: “I’m happy to have him in front of me, not in the back of me.
“It was good. It was a good rivalry, wasn’t it?”
Keown quipped: “Great days. I’m glad you’re standing there and not next to me because you used to love to stand on me.”
Van Nistelrooy laughed: “I would like to block you – and then fall over.”
The panel then briefly discussed Van Nistelrooy and TNT host Lynsey Hipgrave climbing mountains in Rio de Janeiro together – before moving on to the task at hand for the relegation-threatened Foxes.
Once Van Nistelrooy headed off back to the home dressing room, Keown denied he had really said sorry by asking: “Was that an apology?”
https://twitter.com/footballontnt/status/1890731449394831719He then continued: “Since I’ve finished playing, the number of strikers I’ve had to apologise to…
“It was never personal – I treated every striker exactly the same, maybe a bit of extra special spice for Ruud.
“He was very clever, he would stamp on your feet, his movement off the shoulder, really clever.”
Fans on social media enjoyed the interaction from the two old foes.
One said: “Class act from both.”
Another wrote: “Heartwarming banter. Love it.”
A third added: “Actually quite nice to see a moment like this.”
And a final user posted: “Glad he finally admitted to diving. Such a cheat when he was a player.”
Others referenced the infamous “sorry” scene from The Inbetweeners, one labelled Keown “soft” and plenty tweeted the clip to Simon Jordan to add fuel to his rivalry with the former Arsenal man.
AFTER weeks of mystery and guessing, The Masked Singer will air its series six finale TONIGHT.
Fans will finally learn who has been masquerading as Wolf, Pufferfish and Dressed Crab on the hit ITV show.
So far, there have already been several hints – with viewers theorising who could be behind the masks.
Here is a look back at everything we know about each finalist so far.
Throughout series six, Wolf has sang renditions of Let’s Dance by David Bowie, Copacabana (At the Copa) by Barry Manilow, The Candy Man by Sammy Davis Jr and Birds Of A Feather by Billie Eilish.
In the semi-final, he performed Suddenly by Billy Ocean, as well as Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House.
Some clues revealed in the VT packages have included references to being a lone wolf, reminiscing about the good old days with the gang, and having a very long career that involved joining forces.
The items in their VT included colourful umbrellas, wool, a book of bedtime stories, a spy glass and a map of Egypt.
Meanwhile, the judges have suggested an eclectic selection of names as possibilities for Wolf.
Tony Hadley, David Tennant, Mike Skinner, Hugh Jackman and Donny Osmond are among the stars mentioned.
Fans, however, seemed certain early on that they’d nailed who was under Wolf’s mask.
They believe it is former Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow.
Marti, 59, was the Scottish group’s lead singer for 28 years and has also released solo music.
He recently appeared on Michael McIntyre‘s Big Show as an Unexpected (Star) Star of the Show.
One person pointed out on Reddit: They showed a photo of someone’s eyes, I know whose those eyes were and it ties in with my guess.
“The eyes are David Boreanaz, from Angel. Angel eyes was a song by Wet Wet Wet and Wolf is… Marti Pellow.”
Another added: “They played Wild Thing by The Troggs in the background. The Troggs wrote Love Is All Around.”
A third penned: “It’s definitely Marti Pellow.”
While a fourth chimed in: “It’s Marti, no doubt at all.”
A fifth simply stated: “Marti Pellow 100%”
In addition, Wolf performed The Candy Man during a week where the song choices were clues.
Eagle-eyed fans believed it was a nod to Wet Wet Wet‘s song Sweet Little Mystery.
Thanks to her incredible singing voice, Pufferfish is the last remaining female contestant.
So far, she has performed Good Luck Babe by Chappell Roan, Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper and Lose Control by Teddy Swims.
In week six, Pufferfish treated viewers to a rendition of Don’t Rain on My Parade from the musical Funny Girl.
Meanwhile, the semi-final featured her singing What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish and One Night Only by Jennifer Hudson.
Some of the previous clues have hinted at a Stateside star, after Pufferfish referred to the Statue of Liberty and American football.
There has also been a rubber spider resting on a hairbrush, a pair of dice rolling a five and six, and a moment where Pufferfish was seen crushing a rubber chicken with a blue boot.
Fans seem fairly convinced that West End superstar Samantha Barks is behind the mask.
Samantha, 34, rose to fame in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC talent show I’d Do Anything.
The programme searched for an actress to play Nancy in a revival of Oliver!
She made her film debut in the 2012 adaptation of Les Miserables, starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway.
One wrote on Reddit: “Firstly, the voice is very similar.
“Watch her BGT performance of ‘Let It Go’ and you’ll see what I mean – she has even got on her knees before whilst performing, which we saw in Good Luck, Babe last week.”
“Next, it has to be said from someone who has seen Pufferfish live in studio, that she has an incredibly tiny stomach despite wearing a corset.
“From what I’ve seen, Samantha has the same physique. I’ve also seen pictures of her wearing corsets and everything seems to be near enough an exact match!”
Another agreed: “I think Pufferfish is Samantha Barks!”
While a third penned: “Pufferfish is definitely Samantha Barks.”
Dressed Crab’s powerful performances have seen him through as the lone survivor from Group A.
So far, the crustacean has sang Lean on Me by Bill Withers, Let’s Groove by Earth, Wind & Fire, Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz and California Dreamin’ by The Mamas and The Papas.
For the semi-final, Dressed Crab delivered renditions of Suddenly by Billy Ocean, as well as Hit The Road Jack by Ray Charles?
The Masked Singer has hinted Dressed Crab is an American actor, previously showing an American football helmet, NFL insignia, and a film roll.
There’s also been suggestions they’re known for their fashion sense, stating: “This Dressed Crab is the style of the season, and like all great trends, I’ll just keep coming back”
However, there’s also been suggestions they could be connected to the Marvel Universe and riddles.
Some previous suggestions include ex-NFL linebacker Terry Crews, ex-Strictly star Jason Bell, Randy Newman, Billy Porter, Billy Ocean or Clarke Peters.
But just who is behind the mask?
From very early on, many viewers have been convinced it’s Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Gregory Porter.
The 53-year-old has specifically twice won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album – in 2014 and 2017.
In addition, the musician is also known for his recognisable newsboy-style cap.
One confident fan posted how it was “obviously” Gregory underneath the mask.
Much to the delight of telly fans, The Masked Singer is back in 2025.
Twelve celebrities have been hidden behind intricate costumes, with their identities concealed.
Sadly, not all of this year’s whacky and wonderful characters can make it to the end of the show, as there can only be one winner.
Here’s who has been unmasked so far:
Bush – she didn’t fool viewers and the judges were so close, but Bush was in fact EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy. Davina McCall came closest, guessing Morgana Robinson, who does a mean impression of the Sonia actress
Bear – another success for new judge Maya Jama as she guessed correctly that the singing Bear was none other than singer, songwriter Example – real name Elliot Gleave
Snail – this singer certainly fooled the judges as the mask was lifted to reveal Andrea Corr. Jonathan Ross admitted to being a huge fan of The Corrs
Kingfisher – everyone was convinced this was Harry Hill, but the mask was lifted to reveal artist Sir Grayson Perry, who is known for his alter-ego Claire
Teeth – this character baffled judges and viewers with their changing voice. They were finally unmasked as former Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc. None of the panel managed to guess it was her
Tattoo – despite Davina McCall saying “you sound the same” after this character was unmasked, none of the judges guessed it was 80s singer Carol Decker, whose hit China In Your Hand was a No1 hit for five weeks
Toad In The Hole – a massive diva strop saw the character storm off the stage after the judges voted them off. They later returned to be unmasked as singer Macy Gray
Pegasus – the mythical horse was revealed to be Prue Leith, with judge Jonathan Ross correctly guessing her identity
Spag Bol – this character was first to be unmasked and was none other than Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway.
Plus there was one extra unmasking this season, with Giant Joel – a caricature of host Joel Dommett – unveiled as double-double Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah.
While another commented: “Seems like it’s definitely Gregory Porter.
“I believe he played American football at university too, which would tie in with the football helmet clue.”
A third said: “Not because of the clues (and to be honest I only half listen to them) but I instantly thought it was Gregory Porter.”
The Masked Singer airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
A BRITISH couple being held prisoner by the Iranian regime has been named.
Craig and Lindsay Foreman, both in their early 50s, were on a motorbike trip around the world when they were arrested by Iranian officials in January.
News that they were being held on unspecified charges emerged on Thursday, when it was reported by Iranian state-run media.
The regime released a blurred out photo of the couple, and now their identities have been revealed.
The Foreign Office released the following message on behalf of the family:
“We would like to take this opportunity to address the distressing situation concerning Craig and Lindsay Foreman who are currently being detained in Kerman, Iran. This unexpected turn of events has caused significant concern for our entire family, and we are deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this trying time.
“We are actively engaging with the British government and relevant authorities, working diligently to navigate the complexities of this matter. The family are united in our determination to secure their safe return. We truly appreciate the outpouring of support from friends, family, and the community, which has provided us with strength and encouragement as we face this ordeal.
“In light of the circumstances, we kindly ask for the utmost respect regarding our family’s privacy. The emotional burden of this situation weighs heavily on us, and we request that all media inquiries be directed to the FCDO as we manage this challenging chapter in our lives.”
SOUTHAMPTON airport is set to make a huge change to its security checks – and it’s good news for travellers.
Those jetting off on their holiday will soon be able to keep their electrical devices inside hand luggage.
As part of a multi-million-pound makeover to enhance security screening, the airport will be fitted with Next Generation Security Checkpoint scanners.
These will allow passengers to keep phones, laptops and other electronics inside bags – simplifying travel time.
Gavin Williams, managing director of Operations at Southhampton Airport said: “The introduction of the next generation scanners not only represents a significant investment by the airport, it represents one of the most significant advancements in airport security.
“It also underscores our commitment to improving the passenger experience and I am excited about the long-term benefits it will discover.
“As with any major project there is the possibility of some disruption which is why we are asking passengers to ensure they allow enough time for their journey through the airport,” he added.
A poll of 2,000 adults found 77 per cent have previously had to remove their shoes in airport security.
And 30 per cent feel restricted by what they can wear before jetting off.
Only 19 per cent of passengers will wear boots at an airport because of the need to take them off, and 30 per cent have previously avoided wearing boots to account for security when travelling.
The research was commissioned by London Luton Airport, which has recently installed next generation security scanners meaning passengers no longer need to remove footwear or have wardrobe worries.
It also means travellers can also leave liquids and electronic items in their bags as they pass through security.
Neil Thompson, chief operations officer at the airport, said: “We were delighted to become one of the first major airports in the UK to offer the benefits of next generation security to passengers ahead of what was a busy and successful summer at the airport.
“This investment provides LLA with enhanced screening technology, significantly streamlining operations to ensure a simple, friendly airport experience for all of our guests.”
It also emerged from the research that a quarter of travellers cited footwear as the first item of clothing considered when deciding on their airport ‘get up’.
With this rising to 43 per cent for Gen Z 44 per cent for Millennial flyers.
More than one in four (26 per cent) of passengers dread the prospect of having to go barefoot when at the security gates.
As many feel embarrassed (20 per cent) and self-conscious (20 per cent) at the prospect of baring their feet whilst going through security in case they have a hole in their sock.
But nearly half (46 per cent) are excited by the prospect of a more simplified travel process.
And as a result, many are planning on sporting heavy footwear before they next jet off, like Timberlands (26 per cent) and Dr Martens (23 per cent).
THE Masked Singer has hit rock bottom – and even Maya Jama couldn’t save it.
ITV’s once-thrilling guessing game has lost its spark, with this series leaving fans cringing rather than cheering.
The celebrity reveals have been underwhelming, and it feels like the show is scraping the bottom of the barrel for famous faces – has The Masked Singer finally lost its magic?
One issue plaguing the show is the predictable pattern of celebrities signing up.
In recent seasons, the programme has leaned heavily on former band members, ex-pop stars, and soap actors – making it far too easy to guess.
Once you spot the trend, it’s just a process of elimination rather than a real mystery.
Earlier seasons were far more exciting, with a wider mix of athletes, actors, and even international celebrities keeping viewers on their toes.
But by sticking to the same familiar categories, the show has lost the element of surprise – and it desperately needs a shake-up!
With the judges realising they would rather be anywhere else, the show has had to fill in the missing seats.
Maya, 30, joined the panel this season, most likely for sex appeal and to engage fans to watch.
And she is surprisingly good at guessing the celebrities behind the mask, knowing a lot of reality stars and former famous singers.
But, the panel overall lacks talent.
And as it is a singing competition, shouldn’t there be more actual singers on there?
The judges rarely take their job seriously and seem to treat the show as a bit of a joke or one big party.
Jonathan Ross especially makes ridiculous guesses – probably thinking he’s funny and entertaining people, but should take notes from the hilarious and iconic Ken Jeong on the US series to do this successfully.
Sometimes it feels like the show is a fix because the judges forget it’s a singing competition when putting through singers to the next round.
For example, they chose to unmask Macy Gray – not because they didn’t think she was any good – but because they wanted to confirm it was her and wanted to meet her. No wonder she was annoyed.
Another of this series’ biggest problems is how ridiculously vague and generic the clues have become.
Instead of being clever hints that superfans can piece together, they’re so broad and sparse that they could apply to almost anyone.
Without more detailed, meaningful clues, the mystery just isn’t as exciting – and it’s ruining the show’s appeal!
Much to the delight of telly fans, The Masked Singer is back in 2025.

Sadly, not all of this year’s whacky and wonderful characters can make it to the end of the show, as there can only be one winner.

Plus there was one extra unmasking this season, with Giant Joel – a caricature of host Joel Dommett – unveiled as double-double Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah.
Lastly and most importantly, the vocals… as this season’s singers have not been strong.
Pufferfish seems to be the only professional standard vocalist, and the show is trying to make up for poor singing with heavy auto-tune, making it difficult to guess who’s on the mic.
It doesn’t help that there is an incredibly high standard after last year’s winner Danny Jones and his unbeatable vocals.
One of the few saving graces this season has been the rotating guest panellists who have helped keep things fresh.
That said, the guest judges often feel like last-minute stand-ins rather than carefully chosen additions.
Why not link them to themed weeks to make their presence feel more meaningful?
A soul singer for Diva Week, a ballad artist for Valentine’s Week – it would add an extra layer of excitement and credibility.
More viewer involvement could also be a game-changer – making fans feel like they’re truly a part of the show, rather than just passive watchers.
A simple but effective way would be adding a QR code on screen during performances, allowing fans scan for a recap of all the clues so far.
Ultimately, I’m a Masked Singer fan, and that’s why I feel so strongly that the ITV show needs to evolve if it’s to keep hold of its audience.
If it doesn’t, well, us viewers won’t be able to mask our disappointment any longer.
MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been sent into a frenzy after spotting Cristiano Ronaldo’s jet in Manchester.
Ronaldo‘s £61MILLION Bombardier Global Express 6500 jet landed at Manchester Airport this week, causing speculation that the Portuguese superstar could return to his former club once again.
A video shared by Manchester Airport’s official X account showed the matte black jet adorned with a silhouette of Ronaldo and his nickname “CR7” on the side of the plane.
With United enduring a torrid season that has seen them lose almost half of their Premier League games this season, fans are hoping that Ronaldo’s jet is a hint that the 40-year-old could be returning to the club for a third time.
Ronaldo first joined United in 2003, staying until 2009 when he made a huge switch to Real Madrid.
Before returning to Old Trafford for a short stint between 2021 and 2022.
Desperate United fans think that a third spell could be on the cards and have taken to social media to plead with their club legend to bail them out of the bottom half of the table.
One wrote: “Bring him back @ManUtd. I’ll drop my agenda”.
While another added: “Glazers out, CR7 in.”
A third commented: “He is coming for one last dance”.

And a fourth wishfully posted: “Welcome home”.
It’s not actually clear if Ronaldo was in Manchester alongside his jet on Friday, but it seems unlikely given that he was playing in Saudi Arabia on the Thursday night during Al-Nassr‘s 3-2 win over Al-Ahli.
While he is also expected to line up for Al-Nassr again on Monday against Iranian side Persepolis in the AFC Champions League.
Ronaldo’s current contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire in the summer, however reports have suggested that he has agreed to a one-year extension with the Saudi club.
Many United fans may breathe a sigh of relief at Ronaldo being unlikely to rejoin the club, especially given the sour ending to his last stint in Manchester.
Ronaldo saw his contract with the Red Devils terminated after a public spat with then-manager Erik ten Hag and an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
By JOSHUA HALL
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the Theatre of Dreams in 2021 after some 12 years away from the club where he first rose to fame.
It looked like a fairytale return for one of the games’ greatest ever players, but things soon turned sour at the Manchester club.
Ronaldo arrived for less than £20m and walked back into Premier League football like he had never left, netting 18 goals and registering three assists in his first league campaign back.
That run saw him top United’s list of scorers for the season thanks to hat-tricks against Spurs and Norwich and a number of crucial last minute goals.
But things took a turn in his second season as he fell out of favour after the arrival of new boss Erik ten Hag.
Despite his impressive return in the previous season many fans and media outlets were claiming that his overall influence on the team was detrimental to results.
Things got even worse when Ronaldo refused to come on against Spurs in October 2022, prompting Ten Hag to drop him from the squad for the following game against Chelsea.
While it was also reported that Ronaldo had left Old Trafford early following the interaction with his boss.
The final straw was an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which Ronaldo took aim at Ten Hag, Man Utd’s culture and hinted about a potential exit.
That exit shortly followed as Ronaldo saw his contract with Man Utd terminated in November 2022.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner penned a mega money deal with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, bringing an end to a tumultuous second spell with Man Utd.
