‘Arsene Wenger would be shaking his head’ – Tony Pulis says legendary Arsenal boss would HATE Mikel Arteta tactic
TONY PULIS has claimed that Arsene Wenger would not be impressed by Mikel Arteta’s focus on set-pieces.
The Arsenal boss, 42, was compared with Pulis for his side’s set-piece prowess earlier this term.

Wenger, 75, rarely hid his disdain for Pulis’ Stoke side during their stint in the Premier League.
The Frenchman even claimed that the Potters employed “rugby” tactics in 2010.
Earlier this season, social media memes compared Arteta to Pulis, with one image even mocked up of the Spaniard wearing the ex-Stoke boss’ iconic cap.
Pulis, 67, loves the comparisons – telling the Telegraph: “It’s funny because Arsene brought a lot of good stuff into the game but he couldn’t cope with the belief that set-plays were that important.
“It was all about the good football he wanted to play, completely different to maybe what I like to see.
“We were called dinosaurs. Maybe I was a trend-setter. I’ve had Liverpool fans bump into me and talk about Jurgen Klopp wearing my cap.
“People have mentioned how managers now wear white trainers on the touchline like I did. And now there’s obviously the set-plays.”
Arsenal have scored 45 goals from set plays since the start of the 2022-23 season.

Pulis has admired the work done by Arteta, even if it has been mocked by rival fans.
The Welshman added: “Arteta has done fantastically well to recognise how important set-plays are. When you look at it, Arsenal have won a hell of a lot of games from them.
“Arsene would most probably be shaking his head at the amount of praise Arteta is getting for using the corners and set-plays to such an extent that it’s deciding games for them.
“We always knew how important set-plays were and how certain aspects of defending were. It has always been a massive part of professional football, whether you like it or not.”
Wenger escaped an FA charge 15 years ago after complaining about Stoke’s approach during a match against Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham.
He said: “You cannot say it is football any more. It is more rugby on the goalkeepers than football.
“When you see the way (Ryan) Shawcross kicked Heurelho Gomes, how Robert Huth pushed Gomes in the goal, you cannot say that is football any more.”
At the time, Pulis hit back: “The club is desperately disappointed with the comments which Wenger has come out with, especially the comments about Shawcross.
“We think they are out of order and you don’t expect it from a person of Wenger’s esteem.
“What he said about Ryan was very, very poor and the football club will take that matter up. The club will deal with it in the right and proper manner.”

Finding Neverland’s adorable child star is unrecognisable 20 years after hit film in gripping new drama The Assassin
FREDDIE Highmore, who was once a fresh-faced youngster stealing hearts in Finding Neverland, has shed his child star image entirely in his latest role.
The actor, now 32, is taking on a grittier character in Prime Video’s upcoming crime-thriller The Assassin.

First-look images from the highly anticipated six-part series have been released, offering a glimpse of Freddie in action.
The show follows retired assassin Julie (Keeley Hawes) and her estranged son Edward (Highmore) as they are forced into a fight for survival when her past comes back to haunt them.
Over the course of The Assassin, Julie and Edward go on the run, while navigating closely guarded secrets and deadly adversaries.
The thrilling drama boasts a star-studded cast including Gina Gershon, Jack Davenport, and Richard Dormer.
Speaking about the project, Keeley said: “Bringing Jack and Harry Williams’ spectacular scripts to life was an absolute joy.
“I feel so lucky to have spent the summer in Athens with the wonderful Freddie Highmore and a cast and crew of such high calibre. I hope everyone enjoys The Assassin as much as we did.”
Freddie initially found fame in childhood roles like Charlie Bucket in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Peter Llewelyn Davies in Finding Neverland.
He has since carved out a successful adult acting career, which includes his critically acclaimed portrayal of Norman Bates in Bates Motel and his lead role in The Good Doctor.
Reflecting on his latest role, Highmore shared: “It doesn’t get better than a Greek adventure alongside the lovely and incomparable Keeley Hawes!
“I’m really excited for people to glimpse some of what we’ve been up to.”
In one of the images that offers a sneak peak at The Assassin, Freddie can be seen standing next to Keeley as sunset streaks the sky.
His character’s mum looks anxiously at the camera while he stares off into the distance.

Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao at centre of Premier League transfer race after running Kyle Walker ragged in Champions League
THREE Premier League clubs are chasing Feyenoord’s Champions League star Igor Paixao.
Tottenham, Newcastle and Bournemouth are all keen on the Brazilian winger, who scored the winner against AC Milan and gave Kyle Walker a torrid time at De Kuip on Wednesday.

Paixao beat Walker after just three minutes before firing in at the near post and then continued to torment the England international throughout the night.
Newcastle and Bournemouth both had scouts in Rotterdam for the Champions League play-off first leg.
Paixao, 24, has eight goals and 14 assists across Eredivisie and the Champions League this season, with the player keen on a Premier League move in the summer.
Feyenoord are thought to rate their speedy winger, signed from Brazilian side Coritiba in 2022, at £25million and there was plenty of evidence as to why on Wednesday night.
Not only did Paixao constantly beat Walker, but he was quick and confident in front of goal, hitting the bar after opening the scoring.
No player completed more dribbles than the Feyenoord man at De Kuip, while no team-mate had more shots.
Paixao also won the ball on four occasions and created two chances.
In the second half, he robbed Walker of possession in the Milan half which led to him going close to scoring from the half-way line.

Paixao also registered an assist in Feyenoord’s 3-3 comeback draw with Manchester City earlier this season.
But his goal last night sealed Walker’s first defeat since joining Milan in January.
The right-back insisted that the loss has not impacted what he sees as a bright start to life in Italy, but knows they need a response at San Siro next week.
He said: “I’ve been here for two weeks. Since I’ve been here it’s been good, this is a setback and we have to recover first of all in the championship and then in the return leg.
“The atmosphere, the crowd with their passion and the belief that we will put in: it will be a different match but also the approach must be different.
“It is not only valid for the forwards, we all have to contribute more.”

Is Skims worth the money? Our Deputy Fashion Editor gives the verdict

Abby McHale, Fabulous Deputy Fashion Editor
“Kim Kardashian has revolutionised the world of shapewear.
When her brand SKIMS launched in 2018 it was a chance for people to get their hands on shapewear to give themselves that Kardashian sculpted look.
It tapped into a gap in the market, providing shapewear for all women to become inclusive.
With a big focus on comfort, Kim wanted to create a product that would still do the job that it’s meant to do, but be comfortable and wearable at the same time.
With a clever marketing strategy the billionaire has done some big campaigns using a wide variety of models, influencers and celebrities to show representation across the board.
This year alone she’s used the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Charlie XCX and Lana Del Ray to front her campaigns.
SKIMS also has lots of different drops throughout the year which keeps the brand’s product fresh and exciting, leaving the customers always wanting more.
But it does come with a price tag.
The shapewear retails around the £70 mark, however it has had rave reviews with many saying it is actually worth it if you’re looking for shapewear that actually does the job and is comfortable at the same time.
Which is something that in the long run is worth the money, as there’s nothing worse than uncomfortable shapewear that rides up.
And whilst there are a lot of other shapewear brands, some which have been going for a lot longer than SKIMS it’s clear that it has a big fan base because it works.”
What is the difference between Spanx and SKIMS?
When it comes to shapewear, Spanx and Skims are the first two brands that spring to mind.
Both offer similar products, although designs vary slightly between the two.
Spanx is known to focus on working to slim the figure, while Kim Kardashian has described Skims and ‘solutionwear’ designed to smooth while still being comfortable to wear.
Skims offers a wider range of inclusive size options, and the brand has plenty of colour choices across its shapewear and underwear.
Skims has also branched out way beyond just shapewear, as shoppers can now buy everything from pyjamas to dresses, T-shirts and more.
Both brands are worth exploring if you’re looking for the perfect shapewear that will last.
Does SKIMS ever do discounts?
Skims offers several discounts throughout the year, and the brand’s most recent sale was seriously impressive.
The Skims Black Friday sale saw some huge discounts across the site, with prices slashed across shapewear, underwear, clothing, pyjamas and more.
As part of its bi-annual sale (Skims doesn’t use the term Black Friday) shoppers were able to save up to 50% on several bestsellers, including the iconic Skims Unlined Bodysuit.
The one-piece was reduced from £84 to £42, and despite the sale being over, the deal is still available in select sizes.
Several other popular items are also still reduced following the sale, including the Skims No Show Unlined Demi Bra, which is down to just £24.

Peggy Mitchell returns in dark and harrowing EastEnders as Phil faces his demons – and fans are blown away
PEGGY Mitchell returned to EastEnders today in a harrowing and dark episode of the BBC soap.
The episode – which centred around Phil Mitchell’s declining mental health – saw Phil hallucinate visions of his younger self and family, including mum Peggy.

Suffering from depression and apparent psychosis Phil was seen getting a gun in both the real world and his past with his dad Eric and mum Peggy.
While Sharon and his friends tried desperately to find him, Phil managed to evade them until Jay found him at home.
Phil spiralled out of control in front of Jay – who didn’t quite understand what was going on.
Babbling, he told Jay: “You can’t trust your body and your body can’t trust you, it lies to you.
“People die, like Lola, you know she had her body, it was mutating on her, it wasn’t doing what it was meant to do, how is that right? It’s wrong.
“She’s young, she’s healthy, she’s fit. She’s never done nothing to no-one in her whole life and then there’s the likes of me.
“I’ve smashed my body up against a brick wall so many times, I just never die. Drink, drugs, fights, heart attacks, got shot, cirrhosis…
“I should be dead. I should be dead and in the ground but my body just don’t take the hint. My body just keeps on repairing, it keeps the blood going round and round and round.
“You’re wasting your time boys. You’re wasting your time on this one. I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
Jay kept asking Phil if it was alright and then accepted that he was, leaving him alone in his house, leaving him to slip into another vision with his dad and himself.
A troubled Phil ended up shooting his younger self, while getting his gun out in reality.
Another run in with Sharon followed but Phil convinced her he was fine too – and promised to speak to her later.
But after she left, a horrifying vision of his mum Peggy returned – and told Phil he should end it all.
She told him: “Look at you, 64 and not a friend in the world. Not so much a life as a smear across six decades.
“You make out you care about people, but you don’t. You hurt them, you abuse them. Eric was not a kind man to me but I grieved for him, and I grieve for you too.
“You ended up just like him. Phil, sweetheart, this is what you think I think and I’m not here to say any different so it’s all we’ve got, isn’t it?
“But you know what, we can still make the world a better place… by letting your kids grow up without you in their lives.”

But as Phil picked up the gun in both his vision and real life, Nigel burst in – to both scenes – just in the nick of time.
“Phil, are you OK? Phil, Phil, are you OK? I was a bit worried about you. I thought you might want to see a friendly face…
“Hello bruv,” said Grant from behind.
Fans were blown away by the episode – in particular actor Steve’s performance.
One wrote: “Steve McFadden and Daniel Delaney. Both absolutely amazing. The rest of the cast were great and sold it too, but it was this pair’s episode and they aced it.”
EastEnders' 40th anniversary cameos so far

With the 40th anniversary of EastEnders coming up, fans are looking forward to some more incredible cameos from iconic faces of Walford's past. But who have we had so far?
Tracy-Ann Oberman – Oberman returned as Chrissie Watts, a character she last played nearly two decades ago.
Paul Bradley – Bradley returned as Nigel Bates, a character he last played over 25 years ago.
Micheal French – French returned as David Wicks, a character he last played two decades ago.
Patsy Palmer – Palmer returned as Bianca Jackson, a character she last played in 2019.
Coming up this year…
Ross Kemp – Kemp will reprise his role as Grant Mitchell, a character he first played in 1990. The BBC has described Kemp’s storyline as “explosive”. Kemp said it was an “absolute honour” to return to the show.
Other aspects of the 40th anniversary celebration include: A wedding between fan favorites, A huge explosion at the Queen Vic, and A live interactive episode.
A second said: “Steve McFadden should win all the soap awards available in the next year.”
Another added: “Steve McFadden gave the performance of his life during Phil’s monologue to Jay. 35 years of history laid bare like only the power of soap can.”
