Only Connect viewers rage over ‘worst question ever’ on BBC show – but can you answer it?
ONLY Connect is known as being one of the hardest quiz shows on TV, but one question has been slammed by viewers as it proved difficult to figure out.
BBC show Only Connect, presented by Victoria Coren Mitchell, returned to TV screens with its usual intelligence testing questions.

The show sees two teams try to figure out how clues are connected with four seemingly unlinked answers.
With time running out the pressure is on for contestants, and this time one question was branded ‘the worst ever’.
The question saw four clues on screen which were ‘Swelling: on bones’, ‘Finger: at the tip of the middle finger’, ‘Mouse: throughout the body’ and ‘Pan: in the knees’.
The clues for the “little” question appeared impossible with the team members in the studio appearing baffled.
Viewers at home were left just as confused as one wrote on social media: “It’s not often I simply say ‘NO. NOPE. ABSOLUTELY NOT. TERRIBLE QUESTION’ on #OnlyConnect, but that ‘little’ question was one of those times.”
Another shared: “And suddenly, the ‘little’ question isn’t the worst one ever on #OnlyConnect.”
“Little’ Body Parts possibly a contender for worst question ever #onlyconnect,” said a third.
Another posted: “The ‘little’ question was terrible. #OnlyConnect.”
“I had LITTLE understanding of that one. #OnlyConnect,” said another.
As the team struggled to work out the link, they eventually offered up an answer as they guessed: “Dead”.
Victoria laughed before revealing it wasn’t correct as she told them: “Not the answer, I’m afraid.”
As the other team were also left stumped, Victoria then decoded the answer as she explained: “What it is, is if you put the word ‘little’ before the first word, you are getting body parts.
“We might start with clue four. We surely all know the great crossword clue ‘two girls, one on each knee’? Pat. Ella. Patella. The kneecaps are little pans.”
She went on to explain the remaining clues, adding: “Mouse from the latin ‘mus’. Musculus. Little muscles, we have those throughout the body.
“The dactylion – that’s a little dactyl, little finger and little swelling – a tubercle from the latin ‘tuberculum’, which means little swelling.”

Strictly’s JB Gill breaks silence on ‘tough time’ for Wynne Evans after Strictly Tour axe & hopes he ‘bonces back’
JB Gill has broken his silence following co-star Wynne Evans’ axing from the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.
The opera singer, 52, was axed from Strictly’s live concert dates after his sexual jibe towards former BBC One show pro Janette Manrara, 41 – which was caught on both film and camera.

It then emerged how Wynne is fighting to save his Go Compare job and BBC travel show amid concern for his wellbeing in general.
JLS star JB, 38, told The Sun that Wynne had been going through a “tough time” but hopes he’ll bounce back from recent events.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, JB said: “When you’re part of a cast like that, it’s always difficult when you see someone go and obviously the circumstances kind of speak for themselves and I can’t comment on that. But it is sad when you’re part of a big group.”
When asked if Wynne’s would be able to bounce back, JB said: “I hope so, I’ve not been in direct contact with him, but I think he’s going through a bit of a tough time at the minute.
“Obviously I’m wishing him well and hoping he’ll be able to come back.”
Speaking about the Strictly tour, JB said: “It was amazing, I absolutely loved it. It was full on – last night was the 25th time I’ve performed to a sold out O2 and it was the first time my kids were able to come and see me dance since doing Strictly, because they’re a bit young to come to the live shows. It was a special occasion.
“This time last year I didn’t know if I was going to do Strictly but ended up being involved in this series and the way we finished it was amazing.
“There were so many different moments that stand out for me – from doing my week one dance at the top of the leaderboard with Amy, and having to overcome challenges [swapping partners].
“I remember the final went by in a blur and winning the Samba – there were so many amazing moments.”
The Strictly Come Dancing tour became overshadowed by Wynne being dropped from the show.
CRUDE COMMENT
The BBC Radio Wales anchor let slip the shock remark at the start of the Strictly live tour shows before pulling out of the Glasgow performance, citing an ankle injury.
He was heard suggesting a threesome with mum-of-one Janette, using the derogatory term “spit roast.”
It came at a photocall to launch the Strictly live tour, when the Go Compare singer reportedly made a suggestive face at actor Jamie Borthwick as Janette moved between them — which is when he allegedly made the joke.
BBC and Strictly Live producers said: “We have made it clear to Wynne we do not tolerate such behaviour on tour.”
At the time, Janette’s spokeswoman said she had been “unaware of this comment.”
Wynne was then spotted brushing off the scandal as he was seen singing on stage – despite being unable to dance.
Yet after bosses kicked him off the tour, he issued his own statement to apologise.
Wynne Evans' Strictly scandals

‘Grope’
Wynne encountered a backlash after his Strictly pro partner Katya was filmed removing his hand from her waist.
Fans insisted she looked uncomfortable as she moved it away – but Katya later insisted there was no problem.
In joke
They then sparked further fury, when she was seen refusing to high-five the Opera singer.
The duo were quick to issue a video apology and insisted it was all an innocent “inside joke”.
Crude joke
Wynne came under fire for allegedly telling a “crude” joke to one of the show’s make-up artists.
Insiders claim the opera star made a joke that the folds of his double chin “looked like a vagina”.
A source said: “It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke.”
Vile comment
Wynne was recorded suggesting a three-way sex session with presenter Janette Manrara, using the term “spit roast”.
His remark came at a photocall to launch the Strictly live tour, which pro Janette, 41, is hosting.
He reportedly pulled a suggestive face at actor Jamie Borthwick as Janette moved between them — which is when Evans allegedly made the joke.
Wynne has apologised saying: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.”
Wynne apologised for his conduct in a statement on Tuesday and said: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that l’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.
“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.
“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
Dad of two Wynne is sadly no stranger to a TV scandal.
Wynne previously came under fire in last year’s Strictly series when he was seen groping his dance partner Katya Jones, but they dismissed it as a joke.

Boots shoppers clear shelves in huge 90% winter clearance including No7, FCUK and Ted Baker
BOOTS has slashed its winter sale prices with best-sellers now reduced from 70% off to 90% off in-store as customers flock to snap up bargain deals.
The sale includes candles, perfumes, make-up and gift sets from brands including Soap & Glory, No7, Disney and FCUK, as shoppers flood social media with photos of their rock-bottom finds.

The retail giant has reduced its massive winter sale by a further 20% on selected products, with deals now up to 90% off nationwide.
Customers have been posting the bargains they’ve found at their local Boots store on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook pages.
“Anyone manage to beat me on the Boots 90% sale today?” one shopper wrote, “£121 spent, £1287 saved and £13 of points too!”
“No7 vanity case filled with full sized products worth over £195,” another said. “Was originally £180 reduced to £18!!! Right place at right time.”
With a third adding: “My best bargain was the £10 for sculpted by Aimee make up set that should of been £100!”
Some bargain hunters even admitted they now had enough gifts to last them until Christmas 2025.
“Thank you group for posting about the Boots sale!” a savvy shopper wrote. “Just saved myself a fortune. Christmas shopping for this year is done.”
One shopper took the opportunity to buy over 20 gift sets to donate to her son’s school, paying only £74 with a saving of £560.
Another said she’d done her entire 2025 Christmas shopping for just £28.65, snapping up bargains from Disney, Nyx and FCUK.
But other bargain hunters didn’t have so much luck finding the discounted products, “Our stores don’t have much left,” one Facebook user said, with another adding their local shop “did have some 70% last week and some small bits today.”
If your local store doesn’t have many bargains on the shop floor, there are still great deals to be had on Boots.com.
We did some exploring and found big discounts online, including a Real Techniques brush set selling for 60% off, now £24 from £60.
You can also now shop No7’s Lift and Luminate Collection 5 Piece Gift Set for 60% less than normal, now £53.51 and usually £137.50.
To find your nearest store you can search for the store locator tool on the Boots website.
And even though these prices are up to 90% off, it’s always good to to search around to see if sale products are cheaper anywhere else.
RETAILERS LAUNCH CLEARANCE SALES
Boots is not the only retailer having clearance sales. With the winter stock season coming to an end, we found other stores with bargain prices:
Tesco
The UK’s biggest supermarket has dropped prices on kids and adults clothes.
One shopper posted on Facebook they’d found a pink kids winter coat for £6, down from £25.
You can also get winter warmers for less than half price. PJs were marked for £6 down from £12 and cozy slipper socks for £2 down from £5.
Eagle-eyed shoppers have also spotted kitchen bargains with Pyrex dishes £3 down from £9, and serving bowls half price from £18 to £8.
Asda
If you want to stock up on toys, shoppers have spotted some serious bargains at Asda this week with Lego sets slashed in price.
Star Wars and Marvel Lego boxes that originally sold for £14 are now selling for as low as £2.50.
Also spotted was a fleece blanket 50% off from £30 to £15 and a baby carriers for £10 down from £20.
B&M
Customers have spotted bargain prices at B&M this week, with up to 90% off on selected items.
One Facebook poster found a bistro outdoor dining set for £20 at B&M, down from £130.
Another shopper bought wall lights in-store for a 90% discount – just £50p when they were normally £5.
B&M doesn’t have an online store so any sale items will be found in your local branch.
If you’re on the hunt for some major bargains, it’s worth downloading the B&M scanner app.
The app, which is free to download off Google Play or the Apple App Store, lets you hover your camera over barcodes which then tell you the true price of an item.
How to bag a bargain
SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…
Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.
Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.
Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.
Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.
Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.
When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.
Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
Do you have a money problem that needs sorting? Get in touch by emailing [email protected].

Meghan keeps sticking nose into Harry’s work – he doesn’t need her but she won’t leave him alone, expert slams
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have been packing on the PDA as the Invictus Games kick off in Canada.
Harry launched the Games back in 2014 for injured servicemen and women – a cause that’s close to the ex-soldier’s heart.

But it is Meghan who seems to have placed herself front and centre of this year’s Games in Vancouver, Canada – raising eyebrows from critics.
Among the 43-year-old’s show-stealing antics was an “impromtu” introduction to Harry, 40, during the opening ceremony – in which she gushed over the Prince‘s parenting skills.
Later, in the stands, the pair were seen conspicuously giggling and smooching.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward told The Sun that these “interferences” are simply not needed, given it is Harry’s precious event.
She said: “I thought it was unnecessary of Meghan to interfere with what is essentially Harry’s baby. She knows that.
“He really doesn’t need her. When Harry first launched the Invictus Games in London, he was launching it in front of his dad, his stepmum, and his brother.
“He doesn’t need Meghan there to introduce him. I thought it was really wrong and kind of detracted from what he was trying to do.”
She added: “Everything that Meghan does seems to be making everything about her.
“She should have let Harry get on with it himself, instead of interfering.
“She should have said ‘actually, let me step back and you do it’. He doesn’t need it [Meghan’s help]. Harry’s a very good public speaker.”
Ingrid believed the performance was indicative of the couple’s Hollywood lifestyle since moving to the US.
She said: “I’m not beating Meghan up because. It’s very California. It’s very LA.
“But I don’t think it works very well with something like Invictus.”
After the introduction, the pair shared a passionate kiss on stage, to whoops from the audience.
But Ingrid said she thought this kind of PDA was “for the cameras”.
However, she applauded Meghan for watching a range of sporting events – which this week included wheelchair curling and wheelchair basketball.
Ingrid said: “I think it’s actually quite supportive of her to be there, watching [the events].
“What I dislike is when she tries to muscle in on the stage with him. Fine if she just sits quietly and supportively. But it is Harry’s event.”
Earlier this week, another expert, Hugo Vickers, told The Sun described Meghan’s speech as “like a sort of Oscar ceremony”.
He added: “Yes, it showed in a united front. But you must remember she’s an actress, so I don’t know how seriously one can take that seriously.

“I think she definitely used it to assert her own position. I would have much preferred it if he had come on his own.”
This year’s Games – originally founded by Harry in 2014 for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel – has brought together more than 500 competitors from 23 nations.
The opening came just hours after Donald Trump took a savage swipe at Meghan.
Ruling out deporting Harry, Trump said: “I don’t want to do that.
“I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
62 British competitors are competing in the tournament – all veterans and serving personnel who sustained life-changing injuries and illnesses while serving in the UK Armed Forces.
The games have previously been held in London in 2014, in Orlando in 2016, Toronto in 2017, Sydney in 2018, The Hague in 2022 and Dusseldorf in 2023.
Harry and Meghan famously appeared in public together for the first time at the Toronto Invictus Games in 2017, pictured hand-in-hand at a wheelchair tennis event.
The event aims to “inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country”, the Royal British Legion has said.
The Sussexes have been contacted for comment.
Meghan Markle's impromptu speech
In a clip of the opening night shared on X by an attendee, Meghan introduced her hubby Harry.
She honoured him and also gushed about her return to Canada just hours after they landed.
Meghan said: “I was not planning on speaking tonight. We just arrived a couple of hours ago and I touched Canadian soil and I went, ‘feels like home.’
“We are so excited and we also recognise most of you are probably so exhausted from how much travel you’ve done, how much adrenaline you have pumping, how excited you are for what is going to be one of the most outstanding, memorable, unforgettable, and connected weeks probably for you and your families.
“We are just thrilled to be here and I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me and I know means quite a lot to all of you.
“You will see him throughout this week. You will see him at the games, you will see him probably curling with you and cheering you on at wheelchair basketball.”
She also revealed how Harry has juggled organising the Invictus Games while fathering Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Meghan continued: “With families…the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us.
“And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will be like, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ and he says, ‘Because it’s Invictus, I’m getting ready for Invictus.’
“It means so much to him. You are his family just as we are his family.
“And I hope you recognise how much of his heart he has poured into every single beat that has gotten all of you to this week, that’s going to be spectacular.
“I need you to know that, how much it means to him and how much each of you mean to him.
“It is my entire pleasure and complete honour to introduce to the stage my husband, the father of our very sweet, excited children who are cheering you on from California, Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex.”
