How much prize money do jockeys win?

Each prize is divided up among the horse’s various owners, trainers and their staff and the jockey.

From the total prize money haul, jockeys usually take between 8 and 9 per cent of the winnings. For jockeys who place, they can expect to take around 3.5 per cent.

There is also a guaranteed riding fee for jump races which last year was set at £164.74.
