David Tennant made some jokes about Donald Trump during the Baftas but not all of them made the cut.
The Doctor Who star was back for a second stint as presenter on Sunday evening at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and he couldn’t resist some digs at the US President.
At one point, according to Deadline, he described The Brutalist, which cost $10million to make, as ‘a film about incredible architecture’.
He quipped: ‘In fact, it’s the boldest architecture in film this year, apart from Donald Trump’s hair in The Apprentice.’
He then joked the politician won’t have watched the biopic as ‘it’s a 15 and it’s not on Nickelodeon’
‘I’m worried. I’ve said his name three times,’ he also teased, adding: ‘It’s like Beetlejuice — I’ve summoned him. And talking of villains…’

At that point, he moved onto Hugh Grant and his sinister turn in Heretic, while also giving a mention to Wallace and Gromit’s nemesis Feathers McGraw.
On the BBC’s broadcast, which aired on a ‘short delay’ and at a shorter two hour runtime, the jokes about Nickelodeon and Beetlejuice didn’t survive the edit.

A spokesperson for the corporation told Metro: ‘The nature of the show is that it’s broadcast with a short delay, and edits have to be made due to time constraints.’
David, 53, hasn’t been shy about poking fun at Trump in the past, and he had him in his sights during last year’s Bafta monologue.
At the 2024 ceremony, he joked: ‘Poor Things, where a child’s brain is put in an adult’s body. And later this year, one of those may be reelected president.’

Kick starting this year’s event, David delivered a rendition of I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by his Scottish countrymen The Proclaimers.
He came out in a shirt and kilt to belt out the song, putting the mic towards the likes of Anna Kendrick and Camila Cabello, while fellow Scot star James McAvoy gleefully joined in on the chorus.
As he passed Selena Gomez on the stars, he teased: ‘I’m going to be the man who’s working hard for you, Selena.’
Metro has contacted BBC for comment.
