Death of woman struck by train in Aiken County under investigation

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a woman struck by a train in Burnettown, earlier this week.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables has identified the victim as 31-year-old Alyssa Brown of Warrenville.

Brown was reportedly struck by the Norfolk Southern railroad train on April 2 around 3:25 a.m. near Anthony Drive. She died from her injuries, Friday afternoon at 1:38 a.m. She’ll be autopsied in Newberry on Monday.

No further details have been released. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
