Donald Trump hints Elon Musk might leave the White House soon

US President Donald Trump has suggested that Elon Musk may soon step down from his role as a senior White House adviser.

Musk was appointed as the senior advisor for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after Trump began his second term. On Monday, President Trump indicated that Musk might need to return to running his companies full-time now that DOGE has accomplished its tumultuous mission, which included the termination of tens of thousands of government employees.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk have formed a strong alliance

“I think he’s amazing, but I also believe he has a large company to manage, and at some point, he will need to go back,” Trump stated. “He wants to. I’d keep him as long as I can.”

The relationship between President Trump and the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has created an intriguing dynamic.

Musk’s involvement in the political sphere has arguably contributed to Trump’s victory in his second term. The 78-year-old politician and businessman was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States on January 20, 2025.

Musk has since referred to himself as the “first buddy” of the US president Donald Trump. His influence during Trump’s second presidency has led some to label him as the “actual president,” “shadow president,” or even “co-president”.

Will Musk leave DOGE?
