Kostyuk appeared to apologise for the cheeky act

World No29 Kostyuk breezed through the first set and was unrelenting in the second, dropping just three games on her way to the win.

But she could not resist a risky manoeuvre to finish off the match, performing an underarm serve when on match point.

It caught Blinkova off guard as the Russian was situated a few metres behind the baseline, meaning she had no hope of reaching the ball which spun to the right after bouncing.

Kostyuk celebrated her win by waving to the crowd.

She then acknowledged her cheeky move by raising a hand in what appeared to be an apology to Blinkova, but the pair did not shake hands.

The stunning shot left the commentator shocked who responded saying: “Oh I say she’s only gone and done it with an underarm serve! An underarm serve that was an ace! You don’t see that very often – that is some way to sum up a tremendous match.”

Fans were impressed by Kostyuk’s boldness and praised the way she won the clash.

One reacted saying: “Hmmmm what a way to win the match.”
