London Tower Bridge is currently closed and traffic gridlocked after a man scaled the railings on the famous structure.

Blackwall Tunnel is also shut due to a lorry crash, causing traffic chaos across east London.

The man at Tower Bridge was seen this morning sitting on top of the railings.

Emergency services are at the scene.

It comes after man holding a Palestinian flag climbed Big Ben’s Elizabeth Tower and remained there for more than 16 hours this weekend.

He was eventually arrested.

There has been no indication that the Tower Bridge incident is protest-related.

The Blackwall Tunnel lorry accident happened at around 8.30am, peak rush-hour. Hours later the east bound tunnel remains shut.

Massive queues have been spotted on the A12 from Hackney.

There were no reports of injuries, according to police.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said earlier: ‘Police were called at around 8.50am on Monday (March 10) to reports of collision in the southbound Blackwall Tunnel.

‘A lorry collided with part of the tunnel.

‘No reports of any injuries.

‘The southbound tunnel remains closed while the incident is dealt with.

‘Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.’
