Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) received another worrying text from her blackmailer in Emmerdale tonight, but failed to realise she potentially had a face-to-face conversation with the person responsible.
Last week, Manpreet told Ella Forster (Paula Lane) that she had set up a profile on a private site, but has now started getting concerning messages from someone unknown about it.
The person confirmed they had viewed Manpreet’s account, and was now threatening to reveal screenshots of the pictures and risk ruining her career as a doctor.
At first, fans of the ITV soap wondered if Ella was responsible. However, a few scenes have aired where Manpreet received a text when Ella has been right beside her. It either means Ella is working with someone else and getting them to send the messages, or it isn’t her.
If it’s the latter, a scene in tonight’s episode suggested who it might be.
Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) has started feeling rejected by wife Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), unaware she’s not really putting any effort into their marriage because she’s having an affair with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
In tonight’s episode, he tried to talk to Dawn about his feelings, but the difficult vibe between them didn’t dissipate. As Joe returned from his trip to Dubai, Billy headed out to collect Evan’s medication.
Before he arrived at the doctors, Manpreet got another text from the blackmailer. She replied quickly, due to Billy entering the reception.
As Manpreet searched for Evan’s prescription, Billy let his eyes wander. He previously tried to access Manpreet’s online profile this week, and discovered her account was no longer active.

Billy snapped back into reality due to his phone pinging. He checked it, but then hid his device in his pocket because Manpreet handed him the medication.
The time between Manpreet sending a text on her phone, and Billy receiving one was very quick indeed.
It was a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment – but was it confirmation that Billy is responsible?
Or was it a red herring, and someone else is actually involved?
