Emmerdale star Georgia Jay has heaped praise on ‘beautiful’ co-star Beth Cordingly following her award win.

Beth, who portrays fan-favourite Ruby Fox-Miligan on the ITV soap, picked up the Best Newcomer trophy at the TV Choice Awards earlier this week.

‘Thank you so much for voting for me’, exclaimed the actress in an emotional video shared on her socials as she told fans that she was ‘made up’ and ‘so chuffed’ that they’d chosen her for the prize.

Viewers were quick to comment, with one writing ‘well deserved’, while another added: ‘you’re a fabulous actor’.

But it wasn’t just the fans that were quick to heap praise on Beth, with co-star Georgia – who portrays her on-screen daughter Steph Miligan – sharing a picture of them together on her Instagram Stories to mark the occasion.

‘Congratulations beautiful @beth_cordingly,’ she wrote. ‘Couldn’t ask for a better ‘Mum’ and Co-Star’.

Beth re-shared Georgia’s post on her own socials, writing: ‘Aww Thank you babeee’.

Ruby, as viewers know, has been at the centre of a powerful storyline over the past six months after it was revealed that her estranged father Anthony had sexually abused her when she was 16 years old.

The narrative received acclaim, with Beth’s powerhouse performance in the emotional scenes commended by fans and critics alike.

Anthony was subsequently killed off, with Ruby confirming that she was the one to kill him – despite Aaron Dingle coming to the belief that he was responsible after he attacked the twisted villain.

Ruby, Caleb, Aaron and John worked together to cover up the crime, with Cain and Chas subsequently offering assistance.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
