Chiefs midfielder Castillo has officially extended his contract with the club until the end of the 2025/2026 season, with an option for an additional year.

“Edson (Castillo) is gonna stay for another season, he has renewed, but there is also an option for another year I believe. Also, he is gonna return to the team soon, he is back but maybe before the end of this month we can see him feature and get some minutes. Building that match fitness again but yes, he is going nowhere—it is done for another season at least.”

Injury recovery nearing completion

The Venezuelan midfielder has been sidelined since October after fracturing his fibula in a clash against SuperSport United. Initially ruled out for four to five months, Castillo has now resumed training. And is expected to return to the squad by the end of February.

So far, the 30-year-old has missed 15 matches, leaving a noticeable gap in the Chiefs’ midfield. His return will provide a significant boost to the squad as they aim to strengthen their campaign.

The 26-year-old, who joined on a free transfer from SuperSport United 18 months ago. But he has experienced a mixed spell with Amakhosi. Now, he looks set to embark on a new chapter in his career.
