‘He deserves the Footballer of the Season award’

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lucas Ribeiro has earned a famous fan in Teko Modise.

TEKO MODISE SALUTES LUCAS RIBEIRO

“It was one of those games that separated men from boys and showed why Mamelodi Sundowns has been the most dominant team for so long,” said Modise, as quoted by Vodacom Soccer.

“I think it was about time to remind people of our quality. When you’re a team or a person who always strives to be at the top, you’re constantly given the tools to stay there. But once you’re at the top for too long, people start trying to bring you down.

“And that’s been the case with Mamelodi Sundowns this season. I think this game was the perfect reminder of why Sundowns is the team they are. I strongly believe, as you rightly said, there should have been even more goals. And yes, it certifies who the Footballer of the Year is – and we all know who that is.”

SPHELELE MKHULISE TO LEAVE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS?

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has reportedly attracted interest beyond Mzansi boarders.

According to Soccer Laduma, the 28-year-old midfielder is targeted by Algerian giants CR Belouizdad and an unnamed Belgian club.

PRAISE FROM TEBOHO MOKOENA

Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena believe Sphelele Mkhulise has some Andries Iniesta in him.

“I’m a very big fan of Siphelele Mkhulise,” Mokoena told iDiski Times. “I’ve been a huge fan of him, ever since I saw him first play at Black Leopards. I just love how his natural style, everything is natural, so effortless, and when you train with him. I see him every day and this boy is so good.

“I think I don’t know if it’s him sleeping on himself or whoever, or people who don’t see this quality I see. Maybe it’s because he’s grown up there,” added the Sundowns midfield maestro.

“It’s always like that when you’re in one team until you retire, they think ‘ah this one is this or that’ but I love him and how he plays,” added Mokoena.

“I’ve just always been a fan of him even before he was my teammate. He’s so good, man, he’s more Sipho Mbule-style, or like Iniesta, he’s an Iniesta. He can dribble past people, he can pass – he’s so good. Ai yai, yai. I enjoy watching him with the ball, connecting with defenders, midfield, attack,” concluded the Sundowns midfielder.
