April SASSA grant dates have been confirmed and beneficiaries have several ways that they can receive payments.
SASSA recently announced that the deadline for grant beneficiaries to replace their Gold Cards has been extended to 30 April 2025. But can recipients collect their grants for April using their Gold Cards? Find out all you need to know regarding grant payments for next month.
WILL BENEFICIARIES BE ABLE TO RECEIVE GRANTS USING GOLD CARDS?
The South African previously reported on the validity of Gold Cards. It revealed that grant recipients can still use them to receive their April SASSA grant payments.
SASSA issued a statement on 28 March on its social media platforms. It informed its beneficiaries that their Gold Cards are still active. This follows the agency’s previous communication that they would be blocked after the last deadline of 20 March.
“The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) welcomes the decision taken by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to allow for the continued use of the SASSA gold card until all the cards have been successfully replaced.
“This decision has been made in the best interest of all the beneficiaries, to safeguard their dignity, lessen panic whilst ensuring their safety and easy access to their grants,” the statement read.
HOW TO RECEIVE YOUR APRIL SASSA GRANT?
SASSA had previously explained what Gold Card holders should do regarding April SASSA grant payments. It said they can visit SASSA offices to get assistance. They can also go to the Post Office to try and collect their grants.
Beneficiaries should take one document with them when collecting payments from the Post Office or SASSA branches. This is their ID document or temporary ID.
Those recipients who have switched to Postbank Black Cards can collect payments from any ATM or at various retailers. Beneficiaries who have Black Cards have been urged to avoid trying to collect grants at the Post Office as they won’t be able to.
Recipients who opted to receive payments from a bank of their choice should expect their April SASSA grant payments in the bank accounts they provided SASSA with. The dates are 2 April for Older persons, 3 April for the Disability grant and 4 April for Child support.
