Marcus Rashford was not impressed with Jadon Sancho’s attempts to drag him into his standoff with Manchester United after the controversial social media post from the Chelsea star.

Rashford made his Aston Villa debut on Sunday having joined Unai Emery’s side on loan until the end of the season. After a bright cameo off the bench, the England international thanked Villa supporters with a message on Instagram, with Sancho posting a one-word reply to his former teammate – ‘freedom’.

Rashford was given the green light to leave Old Trafford in January with Ruben Amorim unimpressed with his application in training.

Sancho also left the club under a cloud in the summer, joining Chelsea on loan in a deal which will become permanent in the summer having shared a very public falling out with Erik ten Hag the previous year. That row resulted in him being banished from the first-team.

Sancho’s ‘freedom’ message has drawn ire from United supporters who watched the former Borussia Dortmund star flounder during his three seasons back in Manchester while being among the club’s biggest earners.

While his message appeared to be an attempt to elicit support from a fellow United exile, Rashford was not on the same page.

The Daily Mail report sources close to Rashford have suggested the Villa n9 did ‘not appreciate being dragged into the apparent beef’ between Sancho and United.

Sancho publicly challenged ten Hag’s comments over his performances in training in a wild social media post in August 2023. He did not play for United again that season, rejoining Dortmund for the second-half of the 2023-24 campaign.

While he was briefly integrated under the Dutchman during pre-season, Sancho was offloaded to Chelsea in a deal that includes an obligation to buy for £25million.

While he is still technically a United player. He is thought to have left the players’ WhatsApp chat ‘some time ago.’

Sancho’s social media activity was ridiculed by former United defender Paul Parker, who labelled the winger ‘a weak little boy.’

‘Jadon Sancho reminds me of a weak little boy who is using someone else to air his grievances,’ he told myBettingSites.

‘He doesn’t have the strength, power, or presence to do it on his own, so he’s trying to drag Rashford into his mess.”

‘I hope Rashford is smart enough to stay out of it. Even his PR team should know better than to let him get involved in this nonsense.”

‘Sancho is trying to shift focus away from himself, but in reality, he should be looking in the mirror.’
