Over the last few weeks The Brits were streamed live on ITV, and our two north-east treasures, Sam Fender and Jade Thirlwall, significantly marked North East presence into the national music scene. Here are the top Geordie moments of the Brit’s 2025!
The Turkish Dentist line
As the infamous Brits host Jack Whitehall delivered his opening monologue, he introduced Fender with a ruthless dig concerning how us Geordies treat our teeth.
“We will be rocking out with a man who has put more smiles on Geordie faces than a Turkish Dentist”
At least Fender thought it was good crack, as the camera shot him laughing amongst friends.

Jade wins Best Pop Act
Early in the show the northerners began their winning streak as Jade was announced Best Pop Act. Serving a flowery, Bridgerton-esque gown, she gratefully accepted her award with excitement. Buzzing with the win, she enthusiastically thanked all her fans, voters and team, declaring it takes “a determined village to make a good pop act”. True Geordie eloquence x

Sam Fender wins Best Alternative Rock
Fender soon continued the streak of success by winning Best Alternative Rock. Kasabian lead singer, Tom Meighan, announced the win with a quick “Howay the Lads”, paying homage to north-east football culture, much like Johnny Blue Hat, who repped the team badge upon his head. Blue Hat stood amongst Fender’s close team, who joined Fender onstage in support. Stumbling on his words, the singer expressed his nerves, but pulled back his confidence with his northern wit, affirming he wasn’t as drunk as the previous year. After sending love to everyone at home in Shields, he gave huge thanks to his band and graciously accepted the award.

Angel Of My Dreams
Jade returned to the stage later in the show and performed her solo hit “Angel of My Dreams”. Her performance began on an elevated platform, which she dramatically fell through as the beat dropped. This set the tone for the striking performance that followed. This included an abnormally large male caricature, energetic dancing angels and a momentary fight scene. As Jades’ angelic ascendance concluded the spectacle, Whitehall left audiences with an unhinged remark about its white motif and P-Diddy’s white parties. Cheeky bugger.

Jade’s intimate interview
Whitehall continued to push the boundaries as he sat with Jade post-performance. Initially congratulating her on her award, he quickly began interrogating her over the future of little mix, before listing off the explicit products for sale amongst her merchandise. “My mam’s right there” she declared in desperation, before clapping back that Whitehall may have indulged in her products himself. Poor lass x

People Watching
Introduced as the North Shields Springsteen, Fender followed through with this rockstar status by providing a stellar performance of his recent hit ‘People Watching’. It had a black and white motif, complementing Fender’s static position front and center. This simple staging effectively ensured that Fender and his music was the celebrated focus. Howay the Brits!
