‘I get offers that are 3x what I’m getting’ – Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has recommitted to the club following a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The 59-year-old Tunisian mentor joined the club in July from AS FAR. Despite a mixed start to his tenure, Nabi says he is not going anywhere.

“I’m not here for money, I sometimes get offers that are 3x what I’m getting. But I love this club, love the project. It’s sad when you’re criticised by your colleagues,” he said after the Sundowns match.

Nabi has lost 10 matches since joining Kaizer Chiefs

Despite suffering their third defeat against Sundowns, Nabi was upbeat with his players’ performance.

“It’s a game that we will leave with some regrets,” he said.

“We feel that we have done enough to create problems for our opponents, we created opportunities. We had more control in the second half but it’s football, at the end you have to score. I deserve we deserved a tie with the performance we displayed,” Nabi said.

With 11 matches to go, Nabi is confident that Kaizer Chiefs will finish strongly.

“We know that we have lost the points today and we need to go back and push ourselves for the next game.”

“What we need to take from this game is the performance and the improvement of the players during the season. We know the standing on the log doesn’t really reflect our performance, but the standing is a temporary thing and we know we are going to finish the season higher,” he said.

Last month, it was reported that Nabi turned down an offer to coach the Tunisian national soccer team to stay with Kaizer Chiefs.
