THE nation spoke and Walkers listened. Bosses have announced they are bringing back Worcester Sauce crisps after shelving the popular flavour in 2023.
After last week’s hugely successful limited-edition sale of the snack at a shop in Worcester – where the Lea & Perrins relish was launched in 1837 – Walkers has promised to roll them out again nationwide.

Walkers Worcester Sauce French Fries

Asda’s option is a bland version of Walker’s famous Worcester Sauce crisps[/caption]
MADE of spud granules, this is a bland version of Walkers’ original Worcester Sauce crisps.
The flavour verges on tomato, with barely any of the trademark mustard or soy, although there was a touch of garlic.
If you like strong flavours, this isn’t for you.

Seabrook Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce

THE crinkle-cut crisps are flavoured with tamarind, molasses and cloves just like a bottle of Lea & Perrins.
The result is a potent whiff and tons of tang and sharpness when you bite in.
The only downside is the tiny bag. A must for sauce fans.

Fiddler’s Lancashire Sauce Flavour Crisps

LANCASHIRE’S own version of the condiment is fruitier and has an added mix of Asian flavours and spices.
These are a delicious mix of salty, spicy and sweet, with enjoyable notes of lemon and cumin.
Rather pricey, but very moreish.

Nik Naks Nice ’n’ Spicy corn snacks

Sainsbury’s offering is extremely tasty and great value for money[/caption]
WHILE these knobbly maize sticks do not mention Worcester sauce, they are packed full of the same umami taste – garlic and caramel sweetness.
Not as sophisticated as the others, but rather yummy and great value for money too.

HENDERSON’S, which is made in Sheffield, has lots in common with its Worcester counterpart – and the relish’s soya and potato snack doesn’t hold back on flavour.
These are as close in flavour to its bottled version as you can get. Not for the faint-hearted.

This option is pricey but worth it[/caption]
CONDIMENT connoisseurs might want more sweetness, but I enjoyed these thick corn sticks, which had a deliciously saucy flavour.
There is more spice than sugar, and you get lots of tangy vinegar, onion and tomato notes. Pricey, but it is a hefty bag.

I FOUND these to be the closest in flavour to Walkers’ famous offering.
The bag is packed with thick slices of spud and, while it doesn’t specify which brand, a dried Worcester sauce is listed as a primary ingredient alongside clove, vinegar and onion.

Yorkshire Crisps Worcester Sauce

This option is sensational, with a well-balanced seasoning[/caption]
SUBTLE in flavour, but sensational. Yorkshire’s spuds are fried in sunflower oil, sealed in a tin to stay super-fresh and flavoured with dried Worcester sauce.
The seasoning is balanced and they are very close in flavour to the real deal.
