Dale Winton served as the original host while Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke replaced him on the second.

A source said: “Hole In The Wall got great ratings when it first came out so the Beeb have decided to bring it back.

“They are currently filming the pilot to see how it shapes up. They wanted to sign Alison and she jumped at the chance to do it.

“She’s one of TV’s most in demand stars right now and the Beeb is over the moon that they’ve signed her.

“Alison adores her job and is always on the lookout for shows where she can have a real laugh -that’s why she loves presenting Bake Off and This Morning. They are light-hearted and fun.”

Hole In The Wall is based on a Japanese format and sees shiny lycra-clad celebrities try to squeeze through odd-shaped holes in a moving wall.

The wall is activated by the presenter shouting: “Bring on the wall!”

Each week, two teams of television personalities competed for £10,000 in prize money to be donated to their chosen charity.

TV favourite Alison also fronts another BBC show – Alison Hammond’s Florida Unpacked

She also presents The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 and took over hosting ITV’s For The Love Of Dogs from Paul O’ Grady.
