Daredevil: Born Again is Disney+’s most-watched show in 2025, securing a whopping 7,500,000 in its debut week.
The Marvel show, which premiered on March 5, marked Charlie Cox’s return as blind lawyer and vigilante Matt Murdock, seven years after the original Netflix show was cancelled.
The revived show has landed a neat 83% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and rave reviews from fans who have called it ‘absolutely the best thing Marvel has released on their streaming service.’
The impressive opening week figures, per Variety, come after Disney+ secured 7m views in a nine-day period for Sterling K Brown’s Paradise and, in September 2024, it smashed 9.3m with Agatha All Along’s debut.
It remains to be seen whether it will reach the heights of one of Disney+’s biggest shows from 2023 to 2024, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which garnered an impressive 13.3 million viewers for the first episode in the first week.
The synopsis for the rebooted series explains that Matt Murdock is ‘fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavours in New York.’

It continues: ‘When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.’
Whatever they have done to the show, it seems to have assured viewers that their favourite TV show from years gone by still has that special spark.
One Rotten Tomatoes user, Jake C, praised: ‘So far this show has put a smile on my face unlike any other Marvel Television show in the last 3 years.
‘I loved the past 3 seasons of Daredevil and I really hope this entry shapes out to be like the others. I can’t wait to see where they go.’
‘Incredible show as of now!’ Buford B shared.
‘Absolutely brilliant. I was pretty apprehensive about the new season, because of how Marvel projects under Disney have gone as of late. After watching the first two episodes, I am beyond excited for the rest of the season! Well done,’ M V said.

Critics also had glowing praise for the show.
‘There’s an unusual edge to Born Again — a directness that Marvel’s usually anodyne projects tend to avoid. Since it’s a legal thriller, it needs some kind of substance to fuel the courtroom half of the show — and what it delivers is fascinating,’ Vanity Fair wrote in their review.
‘For a franchise in need of a win, Daredevil: Born Again is more than just a comeback, it’s a reminder of why Marvel storytelling, at its best, still matters. And you don’t just have to be the devil’s advocate to see that,’ San Francisco Chronicle agreed.
And the first two episodes have clearly made quite the impact on viewers after fans were left ‘sobbing their eyes out’ from a twist in the first 15 minutes.

(Spoilers ahead) People have struggled to recover from Matt’s best friend at the law firm, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), being shot and saying so suddenly in the series.
In an interview with Metro, showrunner Dario Scardapane spoke about the decision to kill off Foggy.
‘In the earlier iteration of the show [Foggy’s death] had occurred, but it was off-screen, and that was one of the things that we were like, oh, it can’t be. It has to be seen and felt,’ he said.
Screenwriter Sana Amanat added: ‘When you’re going to do something that essentially… it’s the meteor that crashed into his world so that it could be reborn.’
The first three episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are available to watch on Disney Plus now. New episodes release every Tuesday.
