Netflix viewers are counting down for a new medical drama that will hit screens tomorrow.
Pulse is the streaming service’s first ever English-language medical series.
It follows third-year medical resident Danny (played by Scream’s Willa Fitzgerald) who is ‘unexpectedly promoted to chief resident at the emergency room at Maguire Hospital in Miami amidst the fallout of her own explosive romantic relationship.’
It’s been teased that ‘while Danny’s deep empathy makes her an exceptional doctor in training, her brash and self-sabotaging nature complicates her upward trajectory’.
Her promotion comes after the hospital’s highly respected chief resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended.

To make matters more complicated he is the man Danny is in love with, with the pair then having to find a way to work together ‘as the bombshell details of their complicated romance begin to spill out’.
If this wasn’t enough drama to contend with, the doctors, their colleagues and patients then face the threat of a hurricane that sends the hospital into lockdown to deal with the flood of trauma patients.
The show’s trailer was released last month, with viewers sharing their thoughts at the sneak peek and calling it ‘the next Grey’s Anatomy’.
‘I love medical drama especially with more suspense or wild things happening. Can’t wait for this,’ one commented on YouTube.
‘Looks like a good one can’t wait to see this new one,’ someone else shared.
‘Omg I so going to watch this,’ another added.
The 10-episode series was created Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer) who spoke to Netflix’s Tudum about the basis for the main storyline.
‘We always endeavoured to make Danny and Phillips’ relationship a real, authentic look at a workplace romance. We really wanted to play in the grey area of that situation. Pulse shows the edges and pitfalls of their relationship — but also all the joyous moments of working a high-pressure job like this,’ she said.
Speaking about the doctors, she also said the aim was to avoid portraying them as ‘superheroes’.
‘We wanted these characters to be real people who have to go through the relatable issues of working together in a pressure cooker. Relationships are forming and breaking apart on Pulse,’ she added.
Pulse also stars Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves and Jessy Yates.
Pulse is streaming from tomorrow on Netflix.
