Sarah Everard’s evil killer Wayne Couzens is a number one target for ‘extreme’ violence behind bars, prison sources have revealed.

The former Met officer was condemned to die in jail for the horrific rape and murder of Ms Everard, 33, who he snatched off the street using Covid lockdown rules to make a false arrest in 2021.

Couzens, who was arrested four years ago this month, is serving his whole life sentence at HMP Frankland, the category A prison housing some of Britain’s worst killers.

His fellow inmates include Soham monster Ian Huntley, serial killer and rapist Levi Bellfield, soldier Lee Rigby’s murderer Michael Adebolajo and most recently Urfan Sharif.

Ricky Kileen, a reformed prisoner who served five years at Frankland for his involvement in a machete attack, said Couzens will be living in fear of being attacked.

He said police officers ‘become number one targets’, adding: ‘If it is a high-security prison the violence is likely to be extreme.

‘They will either get slashed, they will get stabbed in the neck, they will try to take their eyes out, they will chuck boiling hot oil over them or use a boiling hot kettle full of sugar.’

Previous inmate attacks have involved the use of ceramic shards from a smashed-up toilet bowl and boiling water mixed with melting butter, known as ‘swilling’.

Last summer, a police officer visiting the jail was stabbed in the chest by an inmate. He has since recovered.

A prison source told the Daily Mail ‘will have a bounty on his head’ and be kept in segregation for his own protection.

‘His is a face that everyone knows – and his notoriety won’t diminish over time,’ they added. ‘He will be on a small, vulnerable prisoners’ wing, kept far from the main population at all times, where there are lower levels of association.’

It was previously reported that Couzens is friends with David Fuller – dubbed the Morgue Monster after abusing the bodies of more than 100 dead women at the hospital where he worked.

Mr Killeen, who has his own YouTube channel Behind the Bars TV, added: ‘We call them The Odd Couple. They know some of the same areas from back in the day.  The idea of them swapping stories turns my stomach.’

Couzens’ whole life order was the first time the sentence has been imposed for a single murder of an adult not committed in the course of a terror attack.

The judge noted ‘the misuse of a police officer’s role such as occurred in this case in order to kidnap, rape and murder a lone victim is of equal seriousness as a murder for the purpose of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause’.

The killing sparked protests and demonstrations across the country.
