Jaffar Express Hijacking Update: Security Forces Rescue 190 Hostages, Eliminate 30 Terrorists in Ongoing Operation

After day-long efforts, the security forces successfully freed at least 190 hostages and eliminated 30 terrorists, pledging to continue the operation until the last militant is defeated.

A heavily armed attack targeted the nine-coach train carrying over 430 passengers, triggering widespread panic. The train driver was killed in the assault.

Suicide bombers are among the terrorists, with at least one seated next to passengers, compelling security forces to proceed with extreme caution as the hostage rescue operation continues, a source reported Wednesday morning.

There was no confirmation of the total number of casualties, however, officials said that at least 10 people — including the driver of the locomotive and eight security personnel — had lost their lives as the forces engaged in a gun battle.
