Kaizer Chiefs have paused their pursuit of Al-Duhail frontman Michael Olunga.
The Kenyan international has bagged eleven goals in fifteen games this season and is one of the continent’s most prolific strikers with a career tally of 197 goals in 266 fixtures. According to Transfermarkt, the AmaKhosi target’s transfer value is roughly R158 million.
Kaizer Chiefs, presumably deterred by the price, are looking at alternative attacking options, namely Young Africans’ Prince Dube.
“The club [Kaizer Chiefs] is evaluating the realistic chances of signing a striker, and as things stand, Prince [Dube] looks the most promising option,” a source confirmed.
“The other strikers they have been eyeing, such as Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele, appear difficult to secure, which is why attention has shifted to Dube. He’s also performing well for Yanga at the moment,
“There are other positions the club wants to reinforce. But the striker and left-back positions are at the top of the agenda. The striker they are currently focusing on is Prince Dube from Yanga in Tanzania.”
Olunga to Kaizer Chiefs appears to be off the cards.
A new teenager in the ranks
Kaizer Chiefs have secured the future of 17-year-old goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba:
“They have been looking at different young goalkeepers, but Mazhamba has stood out in recent times both in training with the senior team as well as in games for the DDC team where he has kept six clean sheets and the club is happy with that and that’s why they are offering him a three-year senior team contract,” a Siya source confirmed.
Should Kaizer Chiefs try sign Olunga?
