Kaizer Chiefs supporters either love or completely hate this sentiment on this Amakhosi team.
PAPI ZOTHWANE ON KAIZER CHIEFS
Following last weekend’s 2-0 win for Richards Bay, coach Zothwane offered a basic rating of the current Kaizer Chiefs squad under coach Nasreddine Nabi. “I think Chiefs have got good players; they have got good players,” the former Golden Arrows star said via FARPost. “It’s just that maybe it’s a phase and a patch that things are not happening. They have got good personnel. Sometimes, it’s just that things are not happening. It has happened to many other teams as well, like [Orlando] Pirates.
“So, maybe now that’s what is happening to them. But I think in terms of quality, they have quality. It’s just that things aren’t happening the way they want,” concluded Zothwane.
NASREDDINE NABI ON THE NUMBER NINE POSITION
Kaizer Chiefs’ shock 2-0 loss to Richards Bay happened without any proper center forward for Amakhosi.
With strikers Tashreeq Morris and Ranga Chivaviro not available against Richards Bay, coach Nabi was forced to play his winger Ashley Du Preez. While the Tunisian admitted that Kaizer Chiefs missed a big nine, Nabi also feels that his other forwards should be able to score goals.
“I didn’t say I’m looking for a number nine, I said we were lacking physicality and height in the number 9 position,” said Nabi via iDiski Times. “And we feel that probably with the absence of Morris or Ranga maybe it could have helped. But it doesn’t mean that the number nine could have resolved all the issues today because we should have been more dangerous in the last 18.
“We should have had more shots against a low block. I think the answer of that question will come after the end of the season after having assessed the squad and what it needs.”
