Kaizer Chiefs have upped the ante for Stellenbosch star Fawaaz Basadien.
According to reports, Nasreddine Nabi’s side have increased their initial bid for the 28-year-old – the ball is now in Steve Barker’s court. AmaKhosi has longed to have Basadien in yellow but failed to make anything stick in the January transfer window following months of negotiations.
“I believe this is a much better and improved bid. It’s about a player (Basadien) that they really need and they are giving it everything to sign him,” a source revealed.
“We all know it won’t be an easy one as Stellies are the ones in control but Chiefs are determined to sign him and that’s why they are believed to have tabled a new offer which is more appealing.”
Things are looking good
With Basadien’s 30% sell-on clause set to expire in June, Stellenbosch could become more partial to offers, potentially opening the door for a blockbuster Kaizer Chiefs deal.
“According to reports in the local media, a 30% sell-on clause in Basadien’s contract, which he signed when he joined the club from Swallows FC, is set to expire in June, giving Amakhosi a chance to secure the services of the Bafana Bafana left back,” SoccerLaduma reported.
“With the sell-on clause reportedly expiring, Stellies will receive the entire transfer fee for the player and may not inflate it as much as they would have while the sell-on clause was still active. The Soweto giants may feel that they have a shot at finally bringing in the player to bolster the squad.”
Would Basadien be good for Kaizer Chiefs?
