Kaizer Chiefs news: 17-year-old wonderkid inks three-year deal

Kaizer Chiefs have promoted DDC goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba, signing him on a three-year deal.

A COSAFA U-20 champion, Mazhamba is already playing ahead of his years, suggesting first-team soccer to be his destined trajectory. The 17-year-old’s arrival comes at an interesting time for Fiarce Ntwari and Bontle Molefe, whose spots are already in jeopardy as the club continues to look for a starting goalkeeper, suggesting Bruce Bvuma and Mazhamba to be next year’s number two and three.

A new look Chiefs

Nasreddine Nabi has signed over fifteen players since his arrival last season and is reportedly eager for another haul of players in the coming months.

“They have been looking at different young goalkeepers, but Mazhamba has stood out in recent times both in training with the senior team as well as in games for the DDC team where he has kept six clean sheets and the club is happy with that and that’s why they are offering him a three-year senior team contract,” a Siya source confirmed.

“The technical team believes if given more game time in friendly games in the pre-season then he could compete at a higher level as well”

Another source confirmed Ntwari and Molefe’s worries, saying, “the team (Chiefs) is looking for an experienced goalkeeper but at the same time they may release two as they look to cut down players in the goalkeeping department,

“It’s believed that they are looking at Bontle Molefe and Fiacre Ntwari to be either loaned out or sold if chances be and promote Takalani (Mazhamba).”
