Kaizer Chiefs news: Full list of injured players this season

Kaizer Chiefs new forward Makabi Lilepo suffered an injury during the club’s 1-0 win over Stellenbosch this past Friday.

The 27-year-old Congolese received a knock to his thigh during the Stellies match and was forced to be subbed off. According to Soccer Laduma, Lilepo’s injury is not serious and is likely to feature in Kaizer Chiefs’ next match.

No, it’s not a serious injury,” a source told the publication. “It was precautionary measure not to aggravate his knock. It was just a knock on the thigh which was uncomfortable at the moment but the team was flying back on Saturday and he was already feeling much better.”

Kaizer Chiefs have five players injured

“He joined the rest of the team in the recovery training. He is expected to be ready for the next game. There is almost a week to improve his fitness and be ready for the game against Chippa United.”

Despite Lilepo’s injury, Kaizer Chiefs are also dealing with George Matlou. He was injured during Amakhosi’s match against Orlando Pirates earlier this month.

“He was injured in the Soweto Derby and that’s why he missed the AmaZulu and Stellenbosch games, but things are looking positive for him with the medical and conditioning teams but whether he plays or not will depend on team selection,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

Here is a list of Kaizer Chiefs injured players so far:

Lilepo will likely be in contention to start Kaizer Chiefs’ match against Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup round of 16.
