Kaizer Chiefs news: Salum sale draws closer; R15 million gained

Kaizer Chiefs made easy work of Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup last Saturday, scoring three unanswered goals.

Nasreddine Nabi is slowly silencing the doubters after a topsy-turvy period consisting of more losses and draws than wins – some stability has now ensued.

AmaKhosi, who found themselves in the lower half of the table for several weeks, are levelled on points with fourth-placed TS Galaxy, four points off CAF qualification.

Salum to Chiefs?

The highly-rated Feisal Salum has informed Azam FC that he will not be signing a contract extension after the season concludes, making the 27-year-old midfielder a free agent.

Kaizer Chiefs have been monitoring the Tanzanian international since Nabi’s arrival but were deterred by his hefty price tag and salary demands – now, it’s only the latter they will have to negotiate, fuelling speculation of Salum’s imminent arrival in Soweto.

“Feisal Salum has made his decision and informed the club that he will not extend his contract,” Africafoot.com reported.

“He is enjoying his experience at Azam, a big club, but he wants to explore new opportunities at the end of the season,

“A move to Kaizer Chiefs? It is still too early to say for sure, but it is a very serious possibility.”

Ditlhokwe moves abroad

Defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has moved to Libya’s league leaders, Al-Ittihad Club, for a fee of around R15 million.

After successive games on the bench to start the season, the Botswanan international began solidifying himself in Nabi’s back four, meaning the Tunisian coach must adapt to the 26-year-old’s loss.

All the best on your next chapter, Ditlhokwe.
