Kaizer Chiefs have faced unrest between the sticks following twenty years of Itumeleng Khune stability.
Rwandan international Fiarce Ntwari was chosen as his successor. After five games and seven goals conceded, he was ousted and hasn’t featured since. Like all professional leagues, the PSL is a cutthroat, results-driven business, so when the going gets tough, there’s always someone pointing the finger. Ntwari found out the hard way.
Former Kaizer Chiefs ‘keeper Aime Kitenge believes the time of his selection was always going make him vulnerable, saying, “The boy has been unfortunate at Chiefs in that he has been the victim of circumstances.”
“He joined the club through a difficult period as Chiefs seek to recover from all that has been happening to the club. Instead of getting a steady transition into the club, he was just thrown into the deep end,” he added.
“I feel it was a mistake to rush him at Chiefs because he then succumbed to the pressure of the fans. The boy wasn’t used to what comes with playing for Chiefs, so the fans made him crack.”
Mbuthuma interest confirmded
According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs have joined Orlando Pirates in the race for Richard’s Bay frontman, Yanela Mbuthuma.
“Chiefs are also interested in that Richards Bay striker that Pirates have enquired about before, Yanela Mbuthuma,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“For now, it’s just interest from the team. I am not sure if there is anything official yet from Chiefs to talk to Richards Bay. But what I can tell you is that Chiefs are interested in him.”
Should Ntwari get a second chance at Kaizer Chiefs?
