Kaizer Chiefs set to release striker, midfielder and defender

As the PSL enters its final third, so do the contracts of several players, such as Kaizer Chiefs trio Ranga Chivaviro, Reeve Frosler and Yusuf Maart.

Each player started in Nasreddine Nabi’s first game in charge on September 13, but after a string of poor performances, they were axed from the starting eleven and have struggled to solidify starting roles ever since.

All three are on the brink of being released – contracts expire on June 30.

New signing inbound

Out with the old, in with the new; that is the Kaizer Chief’s mantra under Nabi.

Their latest acquisition is 17-year-old goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba:

“They have been looking at different young goalkeepers, but Mazhamba has stood out in recent times both in training with the senior team as well as in games for the DDC team where he has kept six clean sheets and the club is happy with that and that’s why they are offering him a three-year senior team contract,” a Siya source confirmed.

“The technical team believes if given more game time in friendly games in the pre-season then he could compete at a higher level as well”

Another source confirmed the signing:

“The team (Chiefs) is looking for an experienced goalkeeper but at the same time they may release two as they look to cut down players in the goalkeeping department,

“It’s believed that they are looking at Bontle Molefe and Fiacre Ntwari to be either loaned out or sold if chances be and promote Takalani (Mazhamba).”
