Loose Women panelist Linda Robson thinks a trans panelist would be ‘fantastic’ on the popular daytime TV show.

The host, 66, spoke to Metro on the red carpet of the TV Choice Awards and shared her hopes that the show may get the recognition it deserves during the event and her belief that the show has a bright future.

When asked if she thinks it would be a good time for a trans panelist to join Loose Women, Linda is enthusiastic, saying: ‘Yeah it would be great, yeah we’re welcome to everybody so that would be fantastic yeah.’

When asked her favourite thing about the TV choice awards, she laughs and with her trademark cheeky humour says, ‘That we’re up for an award! Cause we really don’t get awards like this, but tonight might be the night that we do get an award!’

She then bemoans that the show – which she says is ‘apparently the most popular or most watched daytime program’ – rarely gets recognition despite the cast and crew trying ‘our hardest to get an award every year.’

But the veteran TV star is optimistic about the future of the program, sharing that the addition of new, younger panelists is helping to keep the show fresh – though she notes she’s now one of the older hosts.

But she reassures us: ‘I feel fine about that. I’ve got my health and everything I’ve got my family and my grandchildren and most importantly I’ve got my dog, Dolly Parton.’

Linda is not one to hide from tricky conversations or complicated identity politics, sharing that she’s open to interviewing any celebrity: ‘I’m open to everybody and if there’s ever anyone who might be a bit tricky, they say “Linda can do it! because I get away with it like no one else.’

She adds with a chuckle: ‘In the past I’ve actually got Michael Buble to give me a massage.

‘I interviewed him andthen at the end of the interview I said “Michael, my shoulders are killing me would you give me a massage, love?” And he gave me a massage.’

While Linda is happy to interview almost anyone, she admits she draws the line at Donald Trump, revealing: ‘I don’t think I’d be able to hold myself back from Donald Trump actually.’

Linda recently shared an emotional message after her Birds Of A Feather co-star Pauline Quirke revealed her dementia diagnosis.

The actresses began working together decades ago when both of their careers began, but they’re best known as the combative sisters whose husbands go to jail in the sitcom, which first aired on the BBC in 1989.

In January, Quirke’s husband, Steve Sheen, said she will retire from ‘all professional and commercial duties’ and revealed her condition, which he said was diagnosed in 2021.

Linda began writing on Instagram after the news broke: ‘This will be the only time I speak on behalf of my best friend, Pauline.’

‘For the past three years, I’ve been in close contact with her husband, Steve, and have spent time with Pauline,’ she continued.

‘It breaks my heart to see her endure such a terrible illness.

‘Out of respect for her family and her privacy, I will not be discussing this matter further.’

She accompanied her post with two photos, one being a recent selfie as the pair smiled and another showing them in their early days.

Underneath the post, co-stars and fans offered their support, with the likes of Claire Sweeney, Gaby Roslin, and Charley Webb commenting red hearts.

‘That’s a true friend right there … well done you Linda , sending love to you and Pauline x’, wrote juliehemstedt65.

‘Always Sharon and Tracey, you provide comfort to us with your shows, now it’s time for us to show comfort to you both, thinking of you all ❤️’, added jennysoles.
