Mdantsane breaks silence on why he left Kaizer Chiefs

Mduduzi Mdantsane breaks silence on why he left Kaizer Chiefs for Richards Bay.

Mdantsane has finally opened up about his decision to leave on loan to the Bay. After an extended period on the side lines, the midfielder revealed the reasoning behind his move, shedding light on the challenges he faced and his determination to return stronger.

Once considered a potential replacement for Themba Zwane in the Bafana Bafana squad by coach Hugo Broos, Mdantsane’s career took an unexpected turn. A car accident during the off-season derailed his progress, and even after recovering, he struggled to find a place in Nasreddine Nabi’s squad.

In February, Kaizer Chiefs officially announced his loan move to The Natal Rich Boyz for the rest of the season, a decision Mdantsane fully embraced.

The harsh reality at Chiefs

Speaking on Ukhozi FM, Mdantsane candidly shared his thoughts on the challenges of playing for a club under immense pressure.

“Not everything will happen the way you wish; some things happen unexpectedly. I’m a professional player, and I understand the situation. I can give the supporters all I have, but with the pressure they are under, it’s tough. I want to regain my energy so that when I come back, I come back stronger,” he said.

Coming back from a serious injury, including a broken jaw, he understood that patience was not a luxury he could afford at Chiefs.

“The team I come from has too much pressure; there’s no chance. When you’ve been disturbed, they expect you to perform immediately. They don’t care where you’re coming from; they just want results now,” he added.

Fresh start at Richards Bay

For Mdantsane, the move was about starting afresh and regaining his form. He acknowledged that Chiefs were in no position to take risks by fielding him in high-pressure matches, making the loan move a logical step.

“I come from a very difficult situation. They (Chiefs) wouldn’t risk putting me on under the pressure they are already in. So, it’s important for me to start afresh and uplift my level. That was the agreement,” he explained.

Grateful for the club’s support, Mdantsane emphasized that while fans may have different opinions, his career and well-being had to come first.

“Supporters have their way of seeing things, but my life and career come first,” he affirmed.

Limited game time so far

Since joining Richards Bay, Mdantsane has made just two appearances, both as a substitute. Interestingly, he was absent from the match-day squad when his new club stunned Chiefs with a 2-0 victory in the Betway Premiership.

While his game time remains limited, the midfielder remains focused on regaining his peak form. As he continues his journey at Richards Bay, all eyes will be on whether this move reignites his career and sets him up for a strong return to Kaizer Chiefs.
