Mkhize misbehaviour: Royal AM on the brink of PSL expulsion – LATEST

Things go from bad to worse for Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize.

The animated businesswoman and philanthropist has an R51.1 million bill to settle – R40 million to SARS and R11.1 million to former striker Samir Nurkovic.

According to reports, the PSL’s Executive Committee is threatening expulsion, with a decision due to be made by the end of the week.

When did Royal AM last play?

In light of Mkhize’s controversy, which has included everything from unpaid players – some of which requested their contracts be terminated during the January transfer window – to SARS taking temporary ownership of Royal AM, the Durban outfit last played on December 29, losing 3-1 to TS Galaxy.

Since then, Mkhize’s side has postponed eight games against the likes of Chippa United, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

Words from Mkhize

“The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator to secure the necessary permissions to release funds for salary payments,” Mkhize said in mid-January.

“It has always been the ethos of Royal AM to prioritise the well-being of our personnel, and we remain dedicated to upholding that principle despite the current challenges,

“We appreciate the patience and support of our players, staff, and their families during this difficult time. Additionally, we thank our fans, sponsors, and broader stakeholders for their continued trust and loyalty,” Mkhize added.

“Royal AM is committed to preserving the integrity of the club and ensuring its long-term success. We remain optimistic that this situation will be resolved soon, and we will provide timely updates as developments unfold.”
