Monnapule Saleng makes a SHOCK return to Orland Pirates

Monnapule Saleng has been spotted for the first time in months training with the Orlando Pirates first team.

The Buccaneers are preparing for their CAF Champions League on Tuesday against MC Alger in the first leg of the quarterfinal. On Friday, the club released a clip from their training camp and showed Saleng training with the squad.

The 26-year-old winger has not played for the Buccaneers in nearly four months, and his future with the Soweto giants is uncertain; he may have already played his last game for the team. It is widely believed that Saleng’s situation is related to contract issues.

This week, reports emerged that Saleng could potentially leave Orlando Pirates and join rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

“The team is already working behind the scenes in terms of preparing the squad for next season. The club and the coach will sit down at the end of the season to finalise the list of players to be signed,” a source told KickOff magazine.

“I cannot discuss the issue of Saleng joining Kaizer Chiefs.”

Orlando Pirates still have more than 10 matches this season and Saleng is more likely to feature in most of them. On the wing, the Buccaneers have been more effective this season, but his return will boost the team as they look to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns.
