Motley Crue fans ‘gutted’ after band’s residency postponed by 7 months for health reasons

It’s been a tough start to the year for Motley Crue but the band has had yet another blow as Vince Neil’s health has forced them to postpone their shows.

The Live Wire hitmakers were due to open their Las Vegas residency later this month, almost 10 years after saying they were retired.

The legendary rock band, currently made up of Vince, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and John 5, first came together in 1981, with hits including Dr Feelgood, Without You and Girls, Girls, Girls.

Vince, 64, must undergo a ‘required medical procedure’ but gave no further details about the nature of his ailment, which has forced the band to pause live gigs.

However, the seven-month residency postponement has been met with some incredibly disgruntled fans who were weeks away from seeing the show.

Many had booked flights and hotels for the gigs, which were due to start on March 28 and run until April 19 at Dolby Live at Park MGM.

A statement released on the Motley Crue Instagram read: ‘To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring, I’m truly sorry. My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can’t wait to return to the stage.

‘Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.’

In a joint statement from his bandmates, they said: ‘Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery. We are looking forward for him to get well again and to take over Vegas together in September.’

There were plenty of fans offering their support and well wishes to the rocker in his recovery — but others were ‘gutted’ at the date change.

Since this was a residency in Las Vegas, rather than a tour, many fans had to make travel arrangements, meaning they were now out of pocket.

Louloulincoln commented: ‘It’s a bit short notice if you’ve booked hotels & flights you can’t get refunded. And then if you want to go you’ve got to pay out again in September. 🤷. The fans haven’t got 100s of spare dollars to throw around.’

Motley Crue reassured fans that their tickets would be ‘honoured’ in September, however, this appears to have caused more of a headache as refunds are not automatic.

‘Was coming from the UK but Ticketmaster stated no refunds are available,’ wrote Georgia Aimee. ‘Can’t travel back for the rescheduled date. Absolutely gutted.’

‘It wasn’t planned but why not cancel it and refund fans?’ Gina Ashe questioned. ‘Then reschedule and let people choose to go on a new date. Instead, they’re making it our problem to solve. Not cool at all.

‘It’s greedy. I bought tickets TODAY hours before it was announced. I’m out of the country on the day my show was rescheduled. I love those boys but it’s not cool for them to make their problem, our problem. They CAN cancel and refund, they chose not to. 👎🏻👎🏻’

It is also currently unclear if the band will be performing at Boardwalk Rock Festival on May 17, where they are set to headline.

However, others had defended the decision, reiterating that it was a ‘medical issue’ not the whim of the band.

‘I’m sure the guy didn’t plan on needing medical treatment,’ added Lorrie Ann as Gina wrote: ‘You can’t be mad that someone has a medical issue…that’s ridiculous.’

‘Poor guy can’t catch a break lately! Get well soon Vinnie. 🫶🏻,’ said Nicole Harp, referencing the recent plane crash his girlfriend was involved in.

Earlier this month, disaster struck as Vince’s jet crashed, leaving one person dead.

His girlfriend, Rain Andreani, 43, and her friend Ashley were rushed to hospital with injuries while the pilot died in the accident.

The women are reportedly on the mend and in a statement Motley Crue said their ‘hearts go out’ to the pilot and his family.

Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot -stand by for an announcement very soon,’ they added at the time.
