Despite the intense force of a landing, plane tyres are designed to withstand extreme pressure – up to 38 tons of weight. These tyres are also inflated to about 200 psi, which is six times the pressure of a car tire. And when they do need replacing, mechanics don’t change them after every landing – plane tyres can handle hundreds of landings before being swapped out.
