Cape Town City attacker Jaedin Rhodes was one of many players Orlando Pirates failed to sign in January. The persistent Soweto giants will try again this offseason.
“He (Rhodes) has been one of their (Pirates’) targets for some time now,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period. Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”
Another source confirmed the Buccaneers offseason objective, saying, “obviously, they [Pirates] will either loan some out or release some as well. But that’s the time they need to work on their squad and since it didn’t happen in January then they will work on it in the off season. Rhodes is one player on that list already.“
Ruthless roster management
According to reports, Orlando Pirates are preparing to release four first-team players, including youngster Karim Kimvuidi and club captain Innocent Maela, following the season’s conclusion.
“So far, the four players [Maela, Phillip Ndlondlo, Karim Kimvuidi and Zakhele Lepasa] are on the list and are expected to leave at the end of the season,” a source confirmed.
“What I can tell you for now, apparently, is that it’s believed these four players could be the ones to leave. The club is working with all the involved parties to look at the way forward so that they can reach an amicable solution where it is needed.”
Who else should Orlando Pirates be monitoring?
