Isn’t this ironic? Orlando Pirates will send a goalkeeper out on loan, which could help Kaizer Chiefs land a huge transfer target.
Chiefs encouraged by Pirates’ willingness to loan Visagie out
According to Soccer Laduma, Chippa United want to sign Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Ethan Visagie. He’s yet to make his Bucs debut. Pirates have a surplus of goalkeepers on their books and are keen to send Visagie out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. The Chilli Boys see 23-year-old Visagie as the perfect replacement for Stanley Nwabali, who they expect to leave. The Nigerian Number 1, Nwabali, is wanted across the PSL and in Europe. The 28-year-old, who stands at an impressive 1.96m tall, has made 19 appearances in the league this term.
“They are believed to have enquired about Pirates goalkeeper Ethan (Visagie). They are preparing to find a replacement for Stanley (Nwabali) when he leaves at the end of the season. Yes, he hasn’t played official games for Pirates, but the scouts who know him have recommended him to Chippa United as a strong candidate to replace Nwabali. So, for now, nothing is concluded yet, but the interest is there,” an insider disclosed.
“For now, they would be looking at even just a loan move. They have five goalkeepers, including first-choice and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, Melusi Buthelezi, and two other goalkeepers signed last season, Bayanda Zulu and Siyabonga Dladla. Then there’s Sphamandla Gumede. Because of the competition for places, the club is willing to give Ethan the chance for game time, and for now, Chippa has shown interest,” the source added.
An increased budget would help Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Nwabali
Amakhosi have increased their budget for the upcoming winter window to R80 million. Those coffers could be further bolstered in 2026. That’s according to local publication Soccer Laduma.
“It’s believed that the club has already come up with the budget for next season, and it’s believed to be R80 million. You know, last season they started with R50 million, which they raised to R60 million in the January transfer window, and that means they are raising it by R20 million. It’s because they are looking at signing quality with most of the players that they are targeting. So their intentions are looking good with the new budget,” the source revealed.

Would Nwabali be a good addition to the Amakhosi squad?
