Orlando Pirates told to sign two Kaizer Chiefs targets

As always, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will compete in the transfer market for the same players.

ORLANDO PIRATES URGED TO SIGN OSWIN APPOLLIS AND FAWAAZ BASADIEN

It’s been open knowledge that Kaizer Chiefs attempted to sign Polokwane City’s 23-year-old winger Oswin Appollis and Stellenbosch FC’s 28-year-old left-back Fawaaz Basadien. According to the former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs, the Sea Robbers need the same two players to improve the squad depth for next season.

“If you look at Appollis and Basadien, I think they can be quality signings for Orlando Pirates, which is competing on the African continent [CAF Champions League],” Josephs said on the Soccer Beat podcast, as quoted by FARPost.

“If you’re going to compete at that level, you need depth, a player like Basadien who’s been consistent throughout this season. So I think he’ll be a great signing and add something to the team, he has qualities, can take set pieces, and has the engine to go up and down the flank.

“When you look at a player like Appollis, it will be a top signing if Relebohile Mofokeng gets a move to Europe, because he has to move to bigger and better things.

“So with Appollis, if we sign him, he looks very active as a 10 and as a false 9. He is effective on the right and left side, but we can use him in the 10 position where Kabelo Dlamini and Patrick Maswanganyi play. The signing will add a little more competition in that position,” the former Orlando Pirates captain concluded.
