Pakistan Railways Sets Up Help Desks Amid Jaffar Express Hijacking

In response to the recent hijacking incident involving the Jaffar Express, Pakistan Railways has taken several measures to assist families to seek information about their loved ones onboard the train.

A help desk has been established at Rawalpindi Railway Station to provide information to families about their loved ones onboard the train.

This help desk is in constant contact with control rooms in Quetta and Peshawar and can be reached at 051-9270831, 051-9270834, and 051-9270835.

An emergency cell has been set up at Quetta Railway Station to provide updates on passengers.

It can be contacted on 081-9201210, 081-9201211, and the general helpline 117.

Meanwhile, the train operation to Quetta has been temporarily suspended due to security concerns. Services will resume once security clearance is obtained.

These measures aim to support families affected by the incident and ensure safety until the situation is fully resolved.

According to Imran Hayat, the Railways Divisional Superintendent (DS) in Quetta, 10 people — including the driver of the Jaffar Express, and eight security personnel — had lost their lives.

Security officials said that the rescue operation was being executed with extra care, due to the presence of hostages in the terrorists’ captivity.

The situation remains tense as efforts to neutralise the threat are ongoing.
